From what I've seen, the purpose of this "speech" was to keep the Impeachment dreams alive for the Rats.  Since I'm of the opinion Impeachment would be suicide for the rats, I think it's an OK speech.  There will be a fresh round of Rat screaming, starting tonight, so I need to lay in a fresh batch of popcorn.

It's not just about that, CL.  It's also about keeping that cloud of doubt, uncertainty and suspicion over Trump's head going into the next year's election cycle.   They're just desperate enough to keep pushing the impeachment dream and the meme that Trump is guilty, no matter what.

Barr seems like the sort of fellow that understands if you want a friend in DeeCee, get a dog.

If I were Barr I'd be a tad pissed that Mueller basically called me a liar this morning.

Cause... unlike most DC critters....

a dog is much less likely to piss on you... or hump your leg.

Yeah, I noticed that.

Will Nancy be able to keep her little litter of rats in check?  I think not.  At her age, and with the amount of time that she may or may not have as Speaker, what does she have to lose by impeachment?

Though it seems Mueller's speech was goading the leftists to impeach, I do find if interesting that they've been threatening impeachment since day one ... perhaps they are waiting to do so closer to the 2020 election ... or they know that he hasn't committed an impeachable offense and they also won't get the votes from the Senate.

The left is attempting a precarious balancing act with no safety net - please their nutso base with this impeachment crap while hoping to appeal to enough of the independent middle to pull off a win in 18 months.

My bet is before this is all over they'll auger in to the circus tent floor.

Dude, if you have any hard evidence that Trump broke laws in his NY businesses that he can now be prosecuted for, then by all means... present it.  Don't you think that evidence would have already been all over the net by now if it existed?  Methinks you're ass-u-ming because you want him to be guilty.

There are at least three, they’ve been discussed, and they are all over the net. It’s the reason why Cohen is in jail and why the SDNY gave David Pecker and Alan Weisselberg limited immunity.

Last I checked, tail chasing isn't against the law and most of the DC assholes are guilty of that... (See:  formerly secret funded by taxpayers account to pay off sexual abuse lawsuits).  Clinton lied under oath.  Trump did not.  See the difference?

Concealing the payments for it is. If he had just paid the NDA hush money, it wouldn’t be illegal. Funneling it through the business as ‘legal fees’ is and covering the true nature of the money is. See the difference?

Add to that... the Clinton Crime Family rivals only the US Mafia re: their list of unfortunate FATAL accidents (death list) that have occurred to anyone with info on them or set to testify about that info.  Again... to compare Trump to the Clinton corruption is ASININE.

Trump hired Roy Cohn specifically to work with the mafia. One of the issues with the Clinton Foundation was the use of multiple shell companies as complex pass through schemes. The business model Trump uses does similar things and is one of the reasons he’s been audited so much - even when he was a democrat in the mid 2000s. Here’s an example of the convoluted way he owns his helicopter.

President-elect Donald Trump owns a helicopter in Scotland.

To be more precise, he has a revocable trust that owns 99% of a Delaware limited liability company that owns 99% of another Delaware LLC that owns a Scottish limited company that owns another Scottish company that owns the 26-year-old Sikorsky S-76B helicopter, emblazoned with a red “TRUMP” on the side of its fuselage.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/how-donald-trumps-web-of-llcs-obscures-his-business-interests-1481193002

Trump and Clinton are no doubt very familiar with each other and some their dirty secrets. The concept of M.A.D. is why ‘she suffered enough’ and you’ll never see a serious, results oriented investigation into the email server or the foundation. Leaving them be, and knowing what they are, to protect his own interests makes him just as corrupt. To think otherwise is.....

asinine.

....But then he crafted a brand new standard.

“The order appointing the special counsel authorized us to investigate actions that could obstruct the investigation. We conducted that investigation and kept the office of the acting attorney general apprised of our work,” Mueller said. “After that investigation, if we had confidence that the president clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so.”

According to Mueller and his team, charged Russians are presumed innocent. An American president, however, is presumed guilty unless and until Mueller’s team determines he is innocent. Such a standard is an obscene abomination against the rule of law, one that would never be committed by independent attorneys who place a fidelity to their oaths and impartial enforcement of the law ahead of their political motivations.

Per this article, posted in editorials,  this whole episode today may be bogus and improper.

The article also shows how in two prior unrelated investigations,   Muller came up short if not having bad results.

That NY state matter very well could be another big nothing.

Sure, list whatever points one has.

I'm sorry @TomSea I don't put much faith in the Federalist these days.  I think Mueller was authorized to investigate and report.  He has done so and IMO he did it with class, deliberative caution, and fairness all while the President and the GOP threw epithets and slurs at him.

He was charged to investigate like a policeman.  Now it goes to the District Attorney.  That will be whoever the House of Representatives assigns to charge any crimes before the whole House of Representatives who are analogous to a Grand Jury.

The Grand Jury will have the authority call on Mueller to testify and charge Obstruction of Justice if they choose.

I don't have any information that would lead me to think Mueller is part of conspiracy like the "Deep State" if you are implying that.

Because nothing screams prosecutorial fairness, or ei incumbit probatio qui dicit, non qui negat, like “if we had confidence the President did not commit a crime, we would have said so.”

After reading much of the report, to my view, that is extremely fair.

Any port in a storm, @skeeter.  Any port will do.

You know, one does not need to be a Trumper to get pissed at the slings and arrows being thrown.  This is driving people into Trump's camp.

Suffice it to say what you and I think is best for the country couldn't be more different.

If indeed that concern crossed your mind at all.

We both agree the rats are bad for the country.  We only disagree about Trump being bad for the country, and I respect your right to have your opinion, but for me, I can't win either way so...
I might as well be entertained. :2popcorn:

The Senate has the majority so the subpoena would come from this side of Congress.

Drag Mueller's effing ass before them, swear him in and let him take the Fifth before the American people.

Mitch would have to change the rules. A Senate committee can only issue a subpoena if both the chairman and the ranking member agree. Doubtful the rats would agree.
