Senate GOP vows to quickly quash any impeachment charges

GOP senators say that if the House passes articles of impeachment against President Trump they will quickly quash them in the Senate, where Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has broad authority to set the parameters of a trial.

While McConnell is required to act on articles of impeachment, which require 67 votes — or a two-thirds majority — to convict the president, he and his Republican colleagues have the power to set the rules and ensure the briefest of trials.

“I think it would be disposed of very quickly,” said Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.).


“If it’s based on the Mueller report, or anything like that, it would be quickly disposed of,” he added.

Aww, cmon.  How can you have a proper self-hanging if you don’t let the idiots have enough rope?  If they impeach, let them drag it out for as long as they want, and then vote no conviction.  That way, the maximum number of likely voters in 2020 will be fed to the teeth with the DNC and how it wastes time.

So, the House impeaches Trump.  A bunch of Senate Republicans in purple states vote to convict, giving them some non-partisan street cred, while knowing there's no way the Senate is going to reach 67.  I suppose the same thing could happen in the House as well.

It would be funny if the Dems' lust for impeachment ended up blowing up in their faces leading to Reps retaking the House and gaining Senate seats (not that they would do jack all with a majority).

The proper "action" Mr. McConnell should take is to walk up to the podium;
Take the articles and tear them into little pieces;
Then toss them into the trash can.

Before a case is made by the House the Senate has already made up it's mind.  This kind of stuff is why I call the GOP the stupid party.  Let us see what the Senate says after a long summer of investigations.

The vast majority of voters have not read the Mueller report.  The rats intend to make sure they know every detail.

I simply don't trust the GOP members of the Senate. How many times did they "vow" to overturn Obamacare?

As the Senate is a no, why does the impeachment train continue rolling???
Because the RR Engineer is the media who own the D's (as well as some R's)
and are using it to gin up ratings!

Those labeled "Trump Haters" regularly get kicked in their shins,
among other places, whether deserved or not, by the "Trump Lovers".
Yet a simple but real question for the latter.
