Nancy Pelosi fends off impeachment wave — for now
By Mike Lillis - 05/22/19 08:04 PM EDT

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) seems to be winning the Democrats’ internal impeachment fight — for now.

Facing a small surge in Democrats pushing this week to begin impeachment proceedings against President Trump, Pelosi appears to have blunted the momentum, arguing for her favored focus on tough investigations and a string of court battles with the White House.

To make the case, Pelosi on Wednesday convened a special, members-only meeting at which she recruited the leaders of top committees to address the caucus with a simple message: It’s too soon to impeach.

“My message was stay the course we’re on,” Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, said afterward.

Yep, it’s bullshit alright. The media isn’t gonna attach any names to the impeachment drive cause you can bet it’s unpopular with the public. But clearly that’s the way the rats are headed and Pelosi is at the helm.

Expect a vote to impeach soon.  Amash I'm sure is grinning from ear to ear.  I predict that the House WILL vote to impeach and go onto the Senate for vote.  I am not so sure that our Senators will come through for Trump or for that matter the American People!

I am pretty sure that we can count on Paul to vote against as well as Cruz and Graham.  For anyone else, I am just not sure.  I have zero confidence.

Even Trump haters know this is all political bullshit. If the slugs pull it off they’d better not be expecting there be any confidence in the integrity of our governmental system afterwards among the public because there won’t be any. They’ll be back in charge but of a political wasteland.

Maybe that’ll suit them fine, I dunno.

Even Never Trumpers had better wake up and realize that this is their fight, too.

The slugs are pulling it off and they don't care if they are in charge of a political wasteland; they prefer it.

The integrity of our judicial system and government system went out the door when a judge refused to hold Holder in contempt after Congress voted to hold him in contempt ... that case was just now settled! Bammy clearly overreached his authority as well as finding an 'out' using executive privilege on several occasions. No one.  Not one elected official was able to stop them. 535 members of Congress failed to hold them accountable and responsible.  Even with a GOP majority in both the House and the Senate, they FAILED to reign them in. IMHO that was the start of losing our Republic.

They are trying to take down this President and who is going to stop them?  Lower court judges have issued injunctions against this President and tied his hands; at least Barr is publicly acknowledging what is going on.  They allowed the Mueller investigation to go on even after the first time it was found that there was no collusion, yet the investigation went on for nearly two years.

Here we sit.  The assault against this President continues.  Who is going to stop them?  After all, Pelosi suggested that she has equal power to the president.  At the end of the day the DEMS remain united and in essence it sure seems that she and 'they' have more power than the president.   Again, even with a GOP majority in both the House and Senate the GOP was unwilling to stop them.  WHY?  Because the GOP never stood completely united.  Very few GOP have stood up and they can be counted on one hand; Jordan, Graham, Cruz and Paul.  Yet their party has FAILED to back them.  Too many McCain's, Ryans and McConnells.

I am a #Never (in the Classical sense) @dfwgator and I stand beside all my Brothers and Sisters here in this fight.  (Amash aside).

You know the Dems had Impeachment on the table when GWB was elected, especially after the Florida voting debacle to repay for what the Reps did to BJ Clinton but 9/11 happened and of course Boehner didn't have the cojones to go after obummer for fear of being called a racist.  I think Impeachment has become part of the American political landscape at this point, sadly.
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

@mystery-ak

How impeachment begins (the House part, not the Senate part)

House of Representatives
"Impeachment proceedings may be requested by a member of the House of Representatives on his or her own initiative, either by presenting a list of the charges under oath or by asking for referral to the appropriate committee. The impeachment process may be requested by non-members. For example, when the Judicial Conference of the United States suggests a federal judge be impeached, a charge of actions constituting grounds for impeachment may come from a special prosecutor, the President, or state or territorial legislature, grand jury, or by petition. An impeachment proceeding formally begins with a resolution adopted by the full House of Representatives, which typically includes a referral to a House committee.

The type of impeachment resolution determines the committee to which it is referred. A resolution impeaching a particular individual is typically referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary. A resolution to authorize an investigation regarding impeachable conduct is referred to the House Committee on Rules, and then to the Judiciary Committee. The House Committee on the Judiciary, by majority vote, will determine whether grounds for impeachment exist. If the Committee finds grounds for impeachment, it will set forth specific allegations of misconduct in one or more articles of impeachment. The Impeachment Resolution, or Articles of Impeachment, are then reported to the full House with the committee's recommendations.

The House debates the resolution and may at the conclusion consider the resolution as a whole or vote on each article of impeachment individually. A simple majority of those present and voting is required for each article for the resolution as a whole to pass. If the House votes to impeach, managers (typically referred to as "House managers", with a "lead House manager") are selected to present the case to the Senate. Recently, managers have been selected by resolution, while historically the House would occasionally elect the managers or pass a resolution allowing the appointment of managers at the discretion of the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. These managers are roughly the equivalent of the prosecution or district attorney in a standard criminal trial.

Also, the House will adopt a resolution in order to notify the Senate of its action. After receiving the notice, the Senate will adopt an order notifying the House that it is ready to receive the managers. The House managers then appear before the bar of the Senate and exhibit the articles of impeachment. After the reading of the charges, the managers return and make a verbal report to the House.

The House of Representatives has published three reports on impeachment. First, The House Practice: A Guide to the Rules, Precedents and Procedures of the House[10] is a reference source for information on the rules and selected precedents governing the House procedure, prepared by the House Parliamentarian. The manual has a chapter on the House's rules, procedures, and precedent for impeachment. Second, in 1974, the staff of the Impeachment Inquiry of the House Judiciary Committee prepared a report, Constitutional Grounds for Presidential Impeachment.[3] The primary focus of the Report is the definition of the term "high Crimes and Misdemeanors" and the relationship to criminality, which the Report traces through history from English roots, through the debates at the 1787 Constitutional Convention, and the history of the impeachments before 1974. Third, the Congressional Research Service prepared a report, Impeachment and Removal in October 2015."

@mystery-ak I have to respectfully disagree. I expect Lindsey Graham to go into full Kavanaugh mode and make the Dimmies wish they had never been born. He knows where a lot of skeletons are buried and this time he won't hesitate to dig them up and put them on display.

Yeah, that little behind closed doors "meeting" they had just yesterday proves the "I" word is what they're up to.  Trying to deny the truth is how the rats roll.

The saddest and most bizarre aspect of this is that the idiots Dems started screaming for impeachment about two minutes after Trump was sworn in. What a bunch of loonies.

They are out of the closet (finally) rabid, radical leftists.  Something about Trump obviously sets them off... which could turn out to be a good thing, since the blinders should be ripped off (by now) of all those Americans that had no clue about the Democrats.  In a sane world, they would be laughed out of DC.   Unfortunately, we no longer live in a sane world... not even close.   So we need to be aware of how dangerous these cornered rabid rats are.  Dangerous to our lives, our freedoms and the future of our country.
