The War on History Comes for George Washington

They finally came for George Washington.

The perpetual war on history now has the father of our country in its sights as the San Francisco Board of Education considers removing a mural of Washington from a local school.

If the board succeeds in politicizing Washington, whose legacy was once so secured and uniting that his home at Mount Vernon was considered neutral ground during the Civil War, then we have clearly crossed the Rubicon of social division.

Critics of the mural point out that, in addition to Washington, it also depicts slaves and Native Americans—and one of the Native Americans appears to be dead.

They have called the artwork offensive, and the school board says it “traumatizes students” and “glorifies slavery, genocide, colonization, manifest destiny, white supremacy, oppression, etc.,” according to The Wall Street Journal.

But the original intent of the mural was actually the exact opposite.

Been going on since Zinn's A People's History of the United States became a textbook.  There is a "Young Peoples" version, too.

Just a matter of time. Tear down the Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, Mount Rushmore, take their pictures off the currency.

Sure.
Let's stop talking about slavery.
Stop reading Huck Finn. Tear down statues. Close southern plantations. Dishonor anyone who ever held slaves.

Then we can forget about slavery altogether.

Then, with a mind that has been memory-hole cleaned by the Ministry of Truth, our species can repeat the same mistakes.
And maybe the democrats won't be the holder of the slaves the next time.

Once the SJW's get rolling they won' stop until they've erased every bit of history except for what happened 10 minutes ago.

If this continues to go unchecked...it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see them calling for the demolition of Mount Rushmore in much the same way that the Taliban blew up centuries old carvings of Buddha in Afghanistan when they took over and the ancient sites that were destroyed in Syria when ISIS swept through.

All three have the same basic mindset.

First they deny it happened, then cover it up and erase it, and finally when the memory has left the collective consciousness we repeat it.

Truth traumatizes students these days. It doesn't mean we should shy away from it. If anything, it means we have to shock them into reality. They are the students. They're supposed to learn, not make demands based on their own prejudices.

The SJW's remind me more and more of the fictional victorious Nazis of Amazon's video version of The Man in the High Castle (season 3 to be specific).  Their whole project is Jahr Null -- erase actual American history so that only their "glorious future" exists.  With anti-semitism becoming de rigueur on the left these days,  the main difference is that the fictional Nazis have better uniforms.
