FreedomWorks Statement in Response to White House Immigration Reform Proposal
By Peter Vicenzi

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- In response to President Trump’s announcement of a comprehensive plan to address immigration reform, Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks President, commented:

“President Trump deserves tremendous credit today for his comprehensive plan to address immigration reform. Our current immigration system was designed for a 1960s American society and economy. America has changed substantially since then, and it's critical that President Trump begins to get the ball rolling towards reforming our broken system that rewards law-breaking at the expense of American citizens and legal immigrants.

“President Trump’s proposal features a merit-based system that attracts the best and brightest, secures the border, and addresses temporary work needs of both legal immigrants and the American economy. Under Trump’s reforms, the rules will be clear, fair and objective, with consequences for law-breaking.”
