The leftist conceit is that the U.S. should have been perfect from the beginning.  Never mind the fact there was no country in the world that was near perfect. And there never will be as most countries are populated by humans.
My own view is that America was better fifty years ago with all the problems we had then. At least most Americans knew they lived in the greatest country in the world. And ungrateful homosexuals were mostly in the closet.

I don't really see this guy's campaign going all that far.  He is essentially a one-issue candidate pandering to one group of misfits.  To the average shlub -- he has nothing to offer.

And if by "marginalized Americans"  Pete means women, Hispanics and African Americans, more are working today, at better wages, than ever before.   Trump's dynamic economy gives Americans who are willing to work the canvas to paint their dreams on.   It's not Trump's fault if folks want instead to wallow in self-pity and the poison of identity politics.

Homosexuality is not a threat to the Family Unit.   Divorce is.   I wish that Christian conservatives would devote as much time to addressing the epidemic of heterosexual divorce as they do to decrying that small number of homosexuals who want to live openly and unashamedly with their partners. 

I know why Buttigieg wants to debate family values with Trump - so he can compare and contrast his happy and presumably monogamous marriage with that of a thrice-married Trump who has consorted with prostitutes.   Why don't those concerned with sin focus on promiscuity, adultery and the breaking of sacred marital vows?   Why make an issue of two gays who choose to go the traditional route and marry?

With 23+ and most likely growing candidates on the Democommie side, each has to distinguish him/herself in their own way.  Of course a gay candidate would decry this great nation.  Why you ask?  Well, for all the years this nation has existed, homosexuality has been verboten with the exception of the last few decades.

For most Christians, homosexuality is aberrant behavior, a sin in the eyes of God, etc.  I think what ultimately weakened that argument is the degenerate Catholic hierarchy, that went about the land sexually abusing children and getting away with it.  It is hard to remain mighty on a subject when the very MEN that decry something are practicing one of the worst acts on our innocent children, and then turning to the parents and pleading with them to not say anything that would embarass the church.  And it is not only Catholics, for apparently is it a rather common problem of religious leaders abusing children.  Perhaps that is why more and more Americans are falling away from organized religions.

Anyone that makes these idiotic comments about the USA is clueless.  If not for this GREAT NATION, most of the world that lives a free life today would be under the fascist thumb of Germany and Japan.  Unfortunately, the pope the Catholic church decided to make a saint, who was no saint, proclared that America's capitalism was the dirge of mankind.  Another individual that was clueless and ungrateful to a great nation.  Then he was followed by a former Nazi as pope, and now the communist fool that is spouting his mouth off misleading the world.
