A sticker at an Illinois hamburger restaurant is getting a lot of attention.

A bumper sticker at Gross Burgers says, “If you can’t read this, thank a Marine.” There is Arabic writing on the sticker.

The owner of Gross Burgers, Brad Gross, says the sticker has been up for YEARS, given to him by a marine who served in Iraq. He’s never had a problem until now.

According to WCIA-TV:

Some say this message is offensive because it makes it seem like there’s something wrong with speaking Arabic–or we are protected from people who speak Arabic because of the Armed Forces.

The backlash has been rather harsh.

  • That is the problem with everything. They try and make it better without realizing the old is fine.

Seems the so called "backlash" has benefited the "Marine themed" establishment.  Call it the Chick-fil-a effect!

Backlash not found.
