Amazon planning to change Prime shipping guarantee to one-day
By Chris Mills Rodrigo - 04/25/19 07:36 PM EDT

Amazon announced Thursday it is working to cut its Prime two-day shipping guarantee to one-day.

“We’re currently working on evolving Prime two-day to Prime one-day,” chief financial officer Brian Olsavsky said during the company's 2019 earnings call, per Verge.

"We’re already starting down this path,” he continued. “We’ve expanded the number of zip codes eligible for one-day shipping.”

“It will take us a significant amount of time to achieve,” Olsavsky added, providing no more details on when the change would happen, according to the report.

“The vast majority of items are available in two days. If we cut that in half...we think it will open up a lot of potential purchases and a lot of convenience," he added.

We do NOT need EVERYTHING in One or Two Days.

Recently bought two nearly identical items;

1. Searched for low price, waited around 3 weeks. $5.45

2.  Searched for itentical functionality. Two days About $17.50

Both from China. Both work equally well.

Bluetooth Receive/Transmit devide for home & auto - audio components.

To add bluetooth receive capability to a fairly nice AM/FM/CD shelf-style set. Using the device on Receive mode, and Aux 2 IN, I can stream aucio from my smartphone, to the player.

Next I'm trying the device on Transmit, to send TV Audio to my earbuds.

I already have a Receive only devide to add bluetooth capability to a vehicle with only a 3.5 mm input.

The point. Two days ussually will sufice.

Yes, but just because it is available doesn't mean you have to choose it.  Most of the time, there is a "No Rush" delivery option in addition to the 2-Day Prime delivery option.  Often there is a bonus of some sort associated with the No Rush delivery, as well -- $1.00 off your next digital item or $2 off your next Prime Pantry order, for example.

See above. I bought an item with long delay shipping partly as a test.

My Seattle daughter gets some of her Amazon purchases within 2 hours, so a one day delivery would be slowing things down.

I think they must stock hundreds of items in big regional centers, to ssend out immediately when ordered.

For faster selling items, they stock more. They refill those inventories, with a "just-in-time" type procurement routine.

I have never had problems with Amazon purchases, but my daughter did have a problem, but in the end Amazon made her whole, for a bad vendor.

I don't have amazon prime.

When I need something from them, I just make sure the order is over $25, and then check the "free shipping" option.

Sometimes it takes several days, up to a week.
But... it's free.
Works for me.
