Warren calls for House to begin impeachment proceedings
By Max Greenwood and Jesse Byrnes - 04/19/19 04:13 PM EDT

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) on Friday called for the House to begin impeachment proceedings against President Trump, wading into a topic that other 2020 White House hopefuls have so far been wary of discussing.

Warren issued the call one day after the release of special counsel Robert Mueller's report on his investigation into the 2016 election and the Trump campaign.

The severity of this misconduct demands that elected officials in both parties set aside political considerations and do their constitutional duty. That means the House should initiate impeachment proceedings against the President of the United States.

This will probably be the new political normal for the foreseeable future with all upcoming administrations. It just takes the will, not actual overt crimes.

Remember, Andrew Johnson's impeachment was for 'disrespecting congress' among other things..

What is the charge?
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

Waitting almost 24 hours after a 400 page investigation is released, to read it, understand it, consider the opinions of respected friends and foes, weigh all the factors, and then call for impeachment shows Warren's patience.  Calling for the House to proceed, when she sits in another body of Congress, shows her courage.  This seems unlikely to become the breakout issue that will separate her from the rest of the rats.  24 hour news cycle life span = 35 seconds.  This shows her wisdom.  With 18 candidates she should be carving out a campaign issue she can call her own instead of being for impeachment.

I believe it's called "flailing", and it's the wrong strategy. She's done.

She's too old, too white, and heterosexual. That's 3 strikes and she's out.

Friend Once-Ler, You said, "Calling for the House to proceed...issue she can call her own instead of being for impeachment"

She is calling for the House to start the proceedings because articles of impeachment MUST start in the House.

Here is why I think she is asking the House to start proceedings:  The House isn't going to introduce articles of impeachment, so Warren will change from wanting impeachment to begin by saying something like: "Vote for me to get rid of Trump since the House isn't going to do it."

@Victoria33

I kinda expect the House to begin impeachment proceedings and the vast majority of candidates to call for impeachment before Nov 2020.  I wouldn't put money on it, but a lot of the rat base will demand it.  I don't think Hoyer and Pelosi have a tight grip on the freshmen.

If the House impeaches, Warren will be in a tough spot of having to vote for conviction, something that probably won't succeed and might be unpopular.

I offer that prediction with the knowledge I called the GOP primaries and general election wrong in 2016 so maybe Warren's cynical call to arms in the House will pay off for her.

I'm not really rooting for anybody, just enjoying the show.
Have a blessed Easter my friend.

It will be interesting to see which Democrats vote to make Mike Pence President.
