Pelosi, Schumer: Mueller report 'appears to undercut' Barr on obstruction
By Jordain Carney - 04/18/19 02:17 PM EDT

Democratic congressional leaders said Thursday that special counsel Robert Mueller's final report "appears to undercut" a conclusion from Attorney General William Barr that President Trump didn't obstruct justice.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) argued in a joint statement that the "differences are stark" between Mueller's more than 400-page report and what Barr has said on obstruction.

"As we continue to review the report, one thing is clear: Attorney General Barr presented a conclusion that the president did not obstruct justice while Mueller's report appears to undercut that finding," they said.

Democrats are likely to focus on the obstruction question as they plot their own investigations and prepare for Barr – and potentially Mueller – to come testify.

Did not Barr state all along that the evidence of obstruction was inconclusive?

Is that not what the Mueller report states as well?

  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
Of course they believe that. We all knew they were going to seize on something to keep the political scorched earth circus marching onward toward '20.

Schumer also reported that President Trump has been on "double secret probation" since the beginning of this congressional term.

They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

What the Dem's need to realize is that Barr didn't do anything or say anything to 'protect the president' as was questioned during the press conference.  Barr did his job and reviewed the report that was given to him by Mueller.  Barr didn't take part in the investigation.  Yes, nothing conclusive on Trump, or his campaign.

It's impossible to obstruct justice since there was no underlying crime. It's all a bunch of BS. Barr stated he disagreed with the legal basis of the ten instances that Mueller looked at as possible obstruction.

I heard Joe di Genova and Victoria Toensing, both of whom I admire greatly, on Lou Dobbs. They said the 448 report was a smear designed by the highly partisan Wiseman, who attended the election night wake at Hillary's place. They didn't think the report should ever have been written because of its obvious bias. Mueller knew early on there was no collusion so the investigation pivoted to obstruction of a non-existent crime.
