Shepard Smith Shuts Down Discussion of Attacks on French Churches: ‘Not on My Watch’
By Scott Whitlock | April 15, 2019 3:24 PM EDT

Fox anchor Shepard Smith on Monday melted down when a French guest attempted to explain the ongoing attacks, violence and vandalism against French churches. Talking about the fire engulfing Notre Dame, where the cause is unknown, guest Philippe Karsenty began, “For the past years, we've had churches desecrated each and every week all over France.”

Just seconds after his guest was introduced, Smith immediately jumped in and reprimanded, “Sir, sir, sir, we're not going to speculate of the cause of something that we don't know! If you have observations or you know something, we would love to hear it.” After Karsenty attempted to respond, Smith shut down the whole interview: “No, sir. We’re not doing that here. Not now. Not on my watch! Philippe Karsenty, it’s very good of you to be here.”

My question is why we even care what this idiot says or does?

Not on his watch, indeed.  No speculation... based on facts, precedent and "ongoing history" (reality)   will be spoken on Shep's watch.... especially if or when it might hurt the feewings of some Muslims somewhere.  And....when the smoke clears.... even IF they find it was arson and deliberately set (conveniently timed with a Christian holy week)... no such facts will be allowed to be reported by the PC police in France (I'm betting), either.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

Winner here folks!

Bet Shemp would be just fine if the guy were speculating about black churches burning across the south.

Amen to that!  The guy's a flake.

Even Cavuto, who's usually pretty good, hung up on Bill Donohue for speculating about links to terrorism. I guess no one else at Fox wants the Pirro treatment.

In fairness, it was the smartest thing FOX could have done...at this time.

Usually, Muslim extremists will take credit publicly.  Something the media won't be able to hide.

If it is terrorism, then if I were in charge, Mecca would experience an 'accidental' nuclear explosion, just in time for Ramadan.

Speaking the truth is hazardous to your career in today's "fundamentally transformed" America.  Just wondering how long before it becomes hazardous to your life.  Oh wait.... (Seth Rich?)....

This is why gay Shemp isn't worth watching.  I had the TV on with the sound off yesterday.

CNN's coverage was better.

I keep wondering why Fox still keeps Shep around -- except that perhaps the network is still trying to preserve its "fair and balanced" motto -- which was debunked long ago.  Fox hasn't been fair and balanced for years -- if indeed it ever was.  Every news outlet has an agenda and Fox is no different.

But I'm glad my bare-bones cable package no longer includes talking heads networks like Fox.  All those channels did for me was give me stress.  I'm a much happier person now that I don't have paid yappers telling me how to think.

From 8pm until the reruns stop at 4am...FOXNEWS is Limbaugh-style Conservative.

Not so much once the sun rises.   But, among all of them, FOX is certainly balanced at that time.

Because of FNC's slogan "Fair and Balanced".

They honestly need to run a chyron that says "Commentary" under most of what he says.

I haven't watched his shtick since he sniveled about the awful conditions at the Superdome after Katrina. THey'd show trucks bringing in supplies, well, that road works both ways. Thanks for the bottled water, save some food, and walk out, the way the trucks went. If you are there, you likely don't have much to go home to any time soon, anyway.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
