Lori Loughlin & Husband Feel 'Manipulated' in College Scam: 'They Had No Bad Intention,' Source Says
Yahoo, Apr 15, 2019, Entertainment Tonight

It turns out that trusting the word of a con artist might not always be the best choice.

Following Lori Loughlin and husband Mossimo Giannulli's decision to plead not guilty to the charges facing them in connection to the college admissions scandal on Monday, a source close to the 54-year-old actress tells ET that she feels like those who orchestrated the scheme misled her about the severity of her involvement.

"[Lori and her husband] claim they were under the impression they might be breaking rules, but not laws," the source says. "They feel they were manipulated by those involved and are planning that as part of their defense."

"They realize how serious the charges are, but feel that once the judge hears their story he will see they had no bad intentions," the source adds.

Loughlin and Giannulli are accused of paying $500,000 in bribes to get their daughters, 19-year-old Olivia and 20-year-old Bella, admitted to the University of Southern California as recruits for the crew team, even though neither of them participated in the sport.

If bribing private school officials to get your idiot kid placed in a spot they didn't earn is actually a crime, then color me stunned.  22222frying pan
I had been under the impression that rich jerks had been doing this since time immemorial with a nod and a wink from the people in power.
Now they're saying it's an actually  a criminal offense to bribe a private school official.  :nono:
If that's the case, I'll bet we could toss 85% of wealthy people into prison. Because somewhere, somehow virtually all of them procured favors for their moronic sprogs who didn't or couldn't have earned them legitimately.

So... in other words... they're playing the Hillary Card.  Hey, it worked for her.

Lots of luck with that, guys.  You should have just pleaded mea culpa and thrown yourself on the mercy of the court.

There apparently also is a part of this where they knowingly conspired to help conceal these payments from the IRS.  Not a good look.

If they go before the judge with this attitude they may not do very well.

$500,000 is a lot of "stupidity".  Good Grief.

Pretty stupid if they thought those bribes were a mere "bending" of the rules.

They're going with the "it seemed like a good idea at the time" argument? Since when would anything like this seem like a good idea?

Maybe if you're a card-carrying member of "the elite" and think you should be able to get away with pretty much anything short of murder?

Why didn't they just donate a building or endow a chair. It would have had the exact same effect and been completely legal. seriously you go to any university/college and every one of them has a dorm, library, cafeteria, etc..... named after some patron.

I know I am going to get screamed at,but I STILL don't understand why this has so many people steaming their livers. It has gone on since the first college was built, and it will still be going on when all of us are nothing but dust.

Furthermore, not a SINGLE deserving student lost their spot in academia because of this. There are always "open slots" reserved for special cases/special circumstances.

And it ain't like these chilruns ob de famis are going to school to study hard sciences. They are all going for social degrees, which are meaningless for anything but bragging rights. "Yup,ah gradicuiated frum Havarid! Wint do classed wid JFK,two!"

All the REAL things going on to be mad about, and you work yourselves into a lather over mindless degrees in attending a mindless school course being awarded to mindless students?

Just look at how many airheads holding political office we could get rid of if we could make it retroactive!

It does make you wonder why the press decided it's the crime of the century now.

Maybe.... via their convoluted logic.... they think it will help make their leftist case for "free college" and/or for wiping out all student loan debts (at taxpayer expense, of course).

Because that spot on the rowing team could have gone to some "child of color" instead of a wealthy white person. :nono:
Young children of color are spending all their  available hours practicing rowing don't you know  trying to get on a major college rowing team.    :silly:
And some kid with "white privilege" destroyed their cherished dream of rowing at college. It's an outrage I tell ya.

@Cyber Liberty

This is what passes for the Mainstream Press too,and the people they are slamming on are wealthy, mainstream left-wing actors and actresses. I can't remember a single case of this sort of reporting in the last 20 years where the accused wasn't a political conservative and outspoken about it.

It just makes no sense at all on any level.

Now they are going after the airhead kid for something her parents did?

In what kind of world does this make any sense to anyone?

I am sure it is a squeeze play to get her parents although the princess was 18, an adult, who also posed for photos on a rowing machine...remember she wanted on the row team...cough cough

No,but I will take your word for it. I have never understood the outrage this seems to have generated,so I never hit any of the links.

Rich people spending big bucks to insulate and protect their spawn!  Hoodathunk it?

I didn't get it then,and I still don't get it now.
