Nadler: Mueller report a 'roadmap' for House investigation of Trump

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler said the special counsel Robert Mueller's report was written “with the intent of providing Congress a roadmap†to investigate President Trump for obstruction of justice.
Nadler, speaking at a New York press conference Thursday, made it clear House Democratic investigators are just getting started with probing Trump and plan to use the 400-plus page Mueller report to fuel the inquiry.
Mueller “made it clear he did not exonerate the president and responsibility now falls to Congress†to continue the investigation and his report was meant to “preserve the evidence†for future investigations," Nadler said.
Nadler criticized Attorney General William Barr for appearing to clear the president of wrongdoing.
“Attorney General Barr appears to have shown an unsettling willingness to undermine his own department in order to protect President Trump,†Nadler said.
Nadler, along with Democratic leaders, are seeking to counter Barr’s declaration that the redacted Mueller report, released Thursday, clears the president of all wrongdoing.
Democrats have begun mining the report for improprieties and are focused on actions described in the report that could demonstrate Trump tried to obstruct the investigation.
Barr will testify before Nadler’s panel on May 2. Nadler said he expects Mueller to appear before the committee by May 23.
