Wife accuses former Republican senator of bank fraud
by Daniel Jativa
 | April 13, 2019 11:50 AM

The wife of former New York Republican Sen. Alfonse D'Amato said she has gone to federal authorities, alleging that her husband committed bank fraud and that he forged her signature on checks from a secret bank account for millions of dollars spanning seven years.

Katuria D’Amato, who has been in several rounds of legal battles with her husband over the last few weeks, said in an interview with Law&Crime that she found out about the account when the U.K.-based bank HSBC sent a letter to her home about the account opened in her name.

The couple, who have been married for 15 years, are going through a complicated and contentious divorce.

D'Amato says that she called the bank regarding the letter, only to be told that the account is seven years old and that someone had withdrawn nearly $40 million over the seven years under her name.

Let me guess, yet another congresscritter who became a millionaire while "serving" the public. Or has he entered some other lucrative career since leaving Congress?

I have seen it locally. A (Republican) high school teacher, appointed to Planning Commission, elected to City Council, then to County Supervisor, Satate Assembly, State Senate.

Near the start, I noticed he lived in a harborfront place in an expensive neighborhood.

How did he manage that on teacher's pay? He went into politics.

Ouramateur  internet phsychologists might give a whirl, to the types that follow that route.

While pushing their democrat socialism on us, Warren and Sanders are already millionnaire$ by virtue of their political careers.

Isn't this PAR for a NY/NJ Politician?  Even their own AG (Schniederman) just resigned in disgrace.

Met him several times when i was with the YR's in Buffalo. He never impressed me, but I sure as heck wasn't going to vote for Chuckie Schumer.

Only when it’s a Republican do the headlines lead with party affiliation.

When it’s a Democrat being accused, that fact is usually nowhere to be found.
