Congolese troops kill 36 Burundi rebels in east: army

KINSHASA (Reuters) - Congolese troops killed 36 Burundian rebels in clashes with two armed groups in the east of Democratic Republic of Congo and three soldiers were also killed, the army said on Friday.

The Congolese army mounted a series of operations between April 6 and April 8 in the province of South Kivu aimed at regaining territory against the Burundian rebel groups National Liberation Forces (FNL) and the Burundian Republican Forces.

“During the three days of combat, 36 of these rebels have been neutralized,” army spokesman Dieudonne Kasereka said.

Those countries, because of languages spoken, tribal interests, do blend somewhat into each other, Uganda, Burundi, Rwanda, DR Congo, Sudan and I'm sure more...the conflicts there seem to be somewhat related.  Let alone, I suppose Swahili is a common language, though, they probably have their own ethnic languages.
