Whistleblower associated with WikiLeaks Julian Assange appeared to be making a statement as he was shuffled out in handcuffs from the Ecuadorian Embassy in London. He was carrying a book, a book published by The Real News Network with Gore Vidal on the history of the national security state. We gather Assange may have been trying to send the world a message, as did the Washington Post. Daniel Ellsberg had something to do with the so-called "Pentagon Papers".

The Pentagon Papers, officially titled Report of the Office of the Secretary of Defense Vietnam Task Force, is a United States Department of Defense history of the United States' political and military involvement in Vietnam from 1945 to 1967. The papers were released by Daniel Ellsberg, who had worked on the study; they were first brought to the attention of the public on the front page of The New York Times in 1971.[1][2] A 1996 article in The New York Times said that the Pentagon Papers had demonstrated, among other things, that the Johnson Administration "systematically lied, not only to the public but also to Congress".[3]

Ellsberg is essentially saying that anybody should be able to steal state secrets and reveal them with no repercussions. So the list of all American agents working in foreign countries should be revealed to all even if it means the agents get imprisoned or killed.
That's basically what happened when American spy Aldrich Ames released info to the Russians thirty years ago.
And that is what will happen to current American operatives if scum like Ellsberg and Assange have their way.
