Acting ICE director resigns after Trump pulls nomination
By Rafael Bernal - 04/10/19 04:48 PM EDT

The acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Ron Vitiello, has resigned amid an agencywide restructuring of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Vitiello had originally been nominated to take over the post permanently, but his nomination was abruptly pulled last week by President Trump, who said he wanted to go in a "tougher" direction.

Outgoing Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen announced the news of Vitiello's departure on Wednesday, praising his "knowledge and expertise as a seasoned law enforcement professional."

Nielsen said in a statement that Vitiello "has left a legacy of excellence as our Department has expanded and refined our efforts to curb illegal immigration and secure our borders."

I think the business as usual bureaucrat is Trump.

We disagree on that.

I can accept that.  But Trump is firing people but not doing anything to stop the situation that caused these ICE oficcials to write the letter.  Trump needs to take responsibility for what he has done.  He has given illegals incentive.  Especially in the last bill he signed.

His lack of effectiveness bugs the heck out of me, but I sure don't think he's "business as usual" for DC.

No more business-as-usual bureaucrats.

Usually viewed as positive by Real Conservatives.

That Lynch, Comey, Brennan, and others would commit treason to obstruct Trump, is seemingly beyond the grasp of those who blame Trump for each failure by the status quo government bureaucracy.

Trump fires a few bureaucrats; Reagan fired the airtraffic controllers.

By now Trump's persona should be obvious to anyone who
has heard or observed him, if only briefly.
He is a narcissist, craving constant attention and applause,
cannot judge character in subordinates and does not reflect.
As a result, his mistakes in judgement will continue indefinitely
as will his executive merry-go-round in DC.
Yet his fan club has no problem w/such behavior and will make
any/every excuse imaginable, "Cuz he's duin a great job!"

True.  He is a narcissist.  People that continue to support him are either in denial or they don't care about National Security.  All this President works for is the attention of the people.  He will do anything to get it.  He craves it and if he sees that his "art of the deal" skills aren't working he goes ballistic.

I've got news for you - that position in these contentious times pretty much requires someone with a high degree of narcissism.   A "normal" person couldn't handle it.  That doesn't make Trump a good guy any more than it makes him a bad guy.

Good grief!  Good grief, really?  You did say the job required a high degree of narcissism.  I have a hard time imagining someone with problematic narcissism running the country.  And you can see the results.  You can pretend that narcissism is a good mental disorder for POTUS, but I won't.  Yes, there are a lot of dictators that had that mental disorder.

An anecdote, before this evolves into another urinary contest.
In his Metamorphoses, Ovid labeled Narcissus as a hunter from
Thespis who was relentlessly followed by Echo whose love he
rejected, provoking her suicide.
Caravaggio portrayed him as having striking beauty and
endlessly gazing into a clear pool which reflected his image,
eternally fixated on himself.
He is well represented in DC.

I don't agree at all that Donald Trump's strong ego is a problem for the Presidency or the nation.

As far as "narcissism", it would show in his presidency the way it appeared in his initial 2016 campaign....except it hasn't!

The POTUS always uses "WE" when citing his accomplishments...unlike the Kenyan.

Most leaders are different. They are more driven. They are opinionated. They want to do more than merely succeed.

You could read books and watch videos full time, for the rest of your life about "Leaders."

Many of them risked being different, too loud, too strong.

online #nevertrumpers learned a word. narcisist. Enjoy your company with CNN, MSNBC, etc.with your new word.

Be sure to get your very own oniine evaluation by an  "expert of the mind.".

If you employ even more of your own mind, you will learn/conclude that the media warned you about Adolph Reagan, and Benito Nixon, and Fidel Goldwater.

And of course about their terrible supporters.

It is nothing new.

Social Media and our smart phones make it a much more combustible situation...when applied to the 'Hive mentality'.

And the hive is 350M +/- strong.

Can you imagine the censorship that would progress under a Clinton or Leftist POTUS?   And remember, we were never supposed to find out about their crimes.

They were well on their way.

sorry for going OT....

Maybe you should ask the Rats and Rinos how many nominees they obstructed?  It would be more meaningful than your one-liners.

Ooops.  Looks like Trump's failure is my fault.  So sorry.
