Let's really break this down. The reason 'toxic masculinity' has thrived through the ages is that it provides a safe space for women, especially in the Western Culture's chivalric tradition. That means 'toxic' guys get to pass on their DNA and make more.
Without that, the enlightenment, the industrial revolution, the settlement and use of new lands and wide open natural resources just wouldn't have happened, nor would there be the follow-on of large towns, and "civilization" as we know it.
Now that a lot of the real heavy lifting is done, and what is needed to keep it going is far enough over the horizon to patently ignore, those who live in the artificial social constructs and controlled environments we call cities think they can do away with the same character traits which not only built it for their comfort, but provide whatever safety and security they enjoy, primarily because of those 'toxic' traits. Now, I'm not saying some soft handed pajama boy might not grab the nearest stick or kitchen knife and fight off the marauding hordes, or, in a pinch, drag them, injured, from a burning vehicle or building, just that it is unlikely, (although people can surprise you when they find their 'toxic roots' in a desperate situation).
There's a serious disconnect from the brutal reality of nature, and that nature would become apparent within hours or days of the services in those cities shutting down. You can ignore it all you want, but that doesn't make it go away.
The other reality is that for all our 'toxicity', we can't affect the climate any more than the light footed fellow with the chicken blood dripping through his tote bag at the grocery store. (But we aren't so dumb to think that tote bag is a good idea, because now it's likely chock full of pathogens). Plastic, please, I'll find ways to reuse it when the food gets home. After dinner, I'll figure out where to drill for more oil and gas to make more plastic bags.
