Jail for Penn State frat brothers in hazing death: Will they actually spend time behind bars?

As the criminal case against more than two dozen former Penn State University fraternity brothers worked its way through the court system last year, the most serious charges filed in the death of a pledge after a booze-fueled party were dismissed.
The first defendants to plead guilty late last year received probation or were allowed to enter a diversionary program that could eventually clear any crimes from their records.
That lowered some people’s expectations for serious penalties in the criminal case stemming from the death of Timothy Piazza, 19, in February 2017 as he sought to join the Beta Theta Pi fraternity.

They got sentences... the sentences though, aren't that harsh. Misdemeanors but at least, it sounds like they are saying it's more than a slap on the wrist.
