A judge has ruled that a north Texas wildlife refuge can keep the tiger seized from an east Houston home, according to police.

The Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch in Murchison has been caring for the tiger ever since a pot-smoking 311 caller found the feline in a cage on Feb.11 in a foreclosed home at 9415 E. Avenue J. The tiger was taken to the refuge the same week.

Houston Police Department spokesman Kese Smith identified the presumed owner as Brittany Garza. She refused to answer questions elaborating on how she obtained the tiger to investigators or during a hearing Monday in Justice Court Precinct 6, he said.
