My border is solid ground, so I'll take a wall.

I think the wall, in whatever configuration, will be built in the desert southwest first.

Perhaps it will be.  Construction of a wall will take time, time that this country doesn't have right now.  Perhaps people don't understand what this massive influx of illegal means.  Increased crimes such as murder, rapes, burglaries, sex slavery against our own citizens.  Increased economic burden.  Increase in a massive population that fails to assimilate to our culture.  Increase in gang violence and terrorism.  Eventual increase in DEM voters which will make it mathematically impossible for ANY GOP to be seated again.

The time to do something was years ago.  Now the President has two choices; let the invasion continue or shut down the border.

Of course the DEMS will scream if he shuts it down.
Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Shutting down the border isn't the ultimate solution.  Why?  Because the human traffickers and smugglers know where the places along the border are that they can cross.   If one place shuts down, they make another.   Once those folks are 'here' they're our problem.  No, we have to change the laws that say they're our problem, no matter what.  And I don't see that (ever) happening now.... unless Trump can do another emergency declaration or an EO.  We're probably screwed, IOW.

You can thank Soros and the other globalists that see America as their biggest obstacle to their agenda.  Once they have handled us, they have a clear pathway to world globalism.

No quarter given to the enemy within...ever.

You can vote your way into socialism, but you have to shoot your way out of it.

Most of them are coming in between ports of entry.  Its overwhelming.  The cities are struggling to take care of them all.  I read an article that cities are petitioning Federal money to care for these people.  As a taxpayer I would say it is the Federal Governments obligation since they won't do anything to stop it.  Being that its corporate Welfare too I suggest that the government get cracking on deals with these companies to care for the illegal immigrants coming.

Furthermore we hear all about the sob stories of these immigrants and why they must come and invade our country.  But haven't heard one thing about how our government or the world is going to address the problems in the countries that these people feel they can't live in any longer.  Its absent from all discussions.  What to do about the humanity crisis?  Besides continue to let our country be invaded.

All we have done is become an open door for the people of countries that have the highest rate of crime.  Don't kid yourself these are criminals coming into our country with no resistance from our government.  And people continue to talk about it like they are some kind of blessing.  Some kind of master race solution to corporation.  Better than all Americans.

We may not be placing Americans in gas chambers.  But there sure is a stigma about all Americans being lazy and not worth a job.  Seems very Nazi to me.

Let me say first that I'm a Trump supporter.
But I'm tired of talk like this.
That is to say, threats that aren't backed up by action.
Don't talk, Mr. Trump.
JUST DO IT.
Send the troops (tens of thousands, whatever you can scrape together) down there en masse.
CLOSE the border with the statement that it will REMAIN closed (including all commercial and private traffic, including trucks and trains) until a better system of control can be put into place.
ORDER the Army to begin building "a barrier" as an aid to enforcement.
But just STOP TALKING and START DOING SOMETHING.
We can't survive this much longer.

* our pious and sanctimonious are in a frenzy about the "rights" of

As if Boeing didnt have enough worries.  Insulation blankets for the MAX among other parts come from Mexico.  Many industries rely on suppliers in Mexico.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
Just line up the cropdusters, and load them with a nice crowd control agent (aka tear gas).

Apply to large crowds mobbing the border.

Not talking about corporate greed, I’m talking about the economy and jobs of Americans. Not good for his re-election if it tanks because of this. I can understand his passion, but think this one out carefully if he is talking a full closure.

There are also small retail businesses (shops, restaurants, etc.) which depend on border traffic every day.  What are they going to do?

Over a million people cross the border LEGALLY every day, both ways. It is the busiest border in the world.

As I said in the other thread, shutting it down completely is akin to liberals wanting to ban all guns- only law abiding gun owners follow the law, the criminals don't. It would just create a vacuum for more crime.  The cartels would love this.

@NavyCanDo  ??? Boeing and insulation blankets is the very least of our worries.  I'd much rather go without than lose the sovereignty of our country.  You mean to tell me, that things can't be made in the good ole USA?  Remember back when Walmart's pledge was made in the U.S.A.?  Boom our own economy.  Become more self-sustaining.  Put up a huge middle finger to those countries who are invading!

Back when Ross Perot was talking about the "great sucking sound", ERTL toys, and a host of auto parts manufacturers moved out of what is now the rust belt to Mexico. Americans lost jobs wholesale. Sure, those things could be made here.

Closing the border also shuts down trade @libertybele and that hurts both sides of the border so the President has to weigh this decision carefully.

Pretty easy to spot who gets hurt more.  And Mexico is a lot more dependent on these exports as a % of GDP

Thanks for the info.

I hope no one thought that the wall would be the solution to everything that ails illegal immigration.  Tough choices have to be made including the affect that it may have on our economy short term.

Our immigration system is broken.  Existing laws need to be enforced.  New immigration laws are needed.  A wall is needed to assist border patrol, etc.

One thing is for sure, doing nothing and letting things remain status quo will kill any chance of retaining our Republic.

We can easily plant produce that we get from Mexico here in the U.S. --- perhaps we will have a few months without watermelon and cantaloupe, but I'm sure indoor greenhouse facilities can be built  for the future and IMHO, it may be a little more expensive, but probably much cleaner.  When it's all said and done, perhaps will be exporting more of our produce and goods to other countries instead of Mexico being the exporter!

We have car manufacturing facilities that are standing idle, and we can make electrical parts here.

NAFTA was a disaster.  Close the border.  Save our sovereignty!!!

And we just go along as if there is absolutely nothing wrong in Latin America.  When will the world acknowledge that Guatemala and Honduras are nearly a lost cause?  That Mexico is run by the drug Cartel.  We are trying to maintain normal economic relations with failed states.  These countries will soon be completely lost to drug cartel and gang violence.  And we pretend that we can absorb all of their citizens and somehow they will still exist and there will be trade with them.

Politicians are good at pointing to asylum law as a fix all but what becomes of the countries these people are coming from?  Shouldn't we be addressing this?  The UN?  I know the UN is useless but they could at least acknowledge that allowing all the citizens of these countries to leave is unrealistic and allows the problem to grow.  Democrats just pretend that absorbing all of Latin America's people is our duty.  We are not helping them.  We definitely are not helping ourselves.

Solutions need to be drawn to address what is driving the migration to the US.   Its a world problem as much as Syria or any other Middle East conflict that is driving migration.  And we are importing these countries problems into our own.

This is/was the Mexican reality election 2018.  We cannot presume that the current president of Mexico is not installed by the Cartel.

Ignoring the problem won't make it go away.  Ignoring that we are allowing drug cartels to operate in America and drive more migration will only result in America turning into the same shit hole on the other side of our border.

Immigration reform is desperately needed.  The whole problem is that these people are breaking the wrong laws.  We need to put in place the right laws for them to break.
