Taiwan mulls death penalty for drunk driving

AFP•March 28, 2019

Taiwan plans to ramp up punishments for those who cause a fatal accident while drunk driving, including the death penalty for the most egregious cases, sparking an outcry from abolition and rights groups.
The cabinet on Thursday approved a draft amendment to the Criminal Code that would make death by drunk driving an indictable murder offence, potentially punishable by death if the deed is deemed "intentional", officials said.

I bet they never do it again.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

-Ayn Rand-

Killing is killing. Too many lenient sentences for killing someone with DWI and other similar situations such as texting. It sounds harsh to say but maybe these people do deserve something like 20 years imprisonment, no chance for early release.

Um...

And the Taiwanese are opposed to re-joining the "totalitarian" regime of mainland China ...?

Whatever one thinks about the death penalty, it has always struck me that those who willfully become intoxicated should be treated, both as a matter of law and a matter of social custom, as if actions they perform as a result of their intoxication were willful.
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.
