New Zealand bans terror suspect's racist manifesto; citizens told to 'destroy any copies'
Joey Garrison, USA TODAY Published 1:47 p.m. ET March 23, 2019 | Updated 1:50 p.m. ET March 23, 2019

New Zealand's government on Saturday banned a racist, angry manifesto written by the suspected gunman of two recent mosque shootings in Christchurch that killed 50 people, arguing that the 74-page document "promotes murder and terrorism."

New Zealand's Office of Film and Literature Classification issued a statement officially classifying the manifesto – titled "The Great Replacement" and authored by the alleged 28-year-old shooter – "objectionable" under the country's law.

“There is an important distinction to be made between ‘hate speech’, which may be rejected by many right-thinking people but which is legal to express, and this type of publication, which is deliberately constructed to inspire further murder and terrorism," New Zealand's Chief Censor David Shanks said in a statement.

And I'll bet you thought New Zealand was one of the "free", English-traditional nations on the Earth...

Addendum:
Guess this sheds some truth on the claim (pertaining to right here) that if the Second Amendment is removed from our Constitution, the First Amendment will soon follow it...

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
So they are just going to take your guns, and you can't see why?

New Zealanders should resist, and simply not comply (like the Canadians did with the long gun registry).

Muslims drove vans through crowds in Paris, and no one called to ban vans.

This makes just as much sense as banning vans would have--because one person misused it.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Not sure whether this will link, but we should look at Katie Hopkins' video on twitter about the over the top maudlin reaction on the part of non-Muslims to the NZ shootings.

It appears New Zealand is doomed.

Loss of perspective.
Disarming the peaceful over the actions of a nutcase.
Overcompensating for any distaste for the victims ideology with gushing that goes beyond sympathy.
Yes, it is horrible that some nutcase walked into a house of worship and killed 50 people.
To put it another way, though, if that nutcase had been an islamic gunman in a Coptic church in Egypt, would Muslims in Egypt have to surrender their AKs?

We all know the answer to that. Not only "No.", but life there wouldn't skip a beat, nor would it in any other country with a large Muslim population.

For some reason the Western Leftists' tendency to overcompensate for an evil act by perpetrating an even worse one--(by western standards)--by punishing the innocent with loss of property or rights, by going overboard to prove they aren't 'haters', is all too evident in New Zealand.

Had these been Christians slaughtered by a Muslim gunman (nutcase or not), would Muslims react the same way?

No, they'd be cheering in the streets.

Wake up people.

It seems that an increasingly significant number of their 'subjects' recognize what the motives of western governments are in these cases. We have eyes and the information is right in front of us - how can we miss it?

Everyone has their pet nutcase, who always seem to pop up at just the 'right' time.

Interesting that here, in the US, the Obama Administration not only did not ban bump stocks, but, in fact, ruled them okay, rather than face the outrage, resistance, and noncompliance almost guaranteed when Liberals come after anything to do with guns.

Instead, it's a Republican Administration, and scarcely a peep. WTF?

We're in trouble, too. Blinded by populist or partisan nonsense.

Right foot, Left foot, one passes what the other cannot, both shuffle down the road to totalitarianism.
