I live in a small town that has been ruled by Democrats for at least a hundred years that I know of. Things were ok so long as the factories and the railroad were thriving. But those businesses are all gone. The town has 4 housing projects and more recently, the feds decides to stick illegals and alleged refugees in this place. Many of the homeowners have fled to greener pastures. I am one of the few who still maintains her home as a single family dwelling. Most of the others around me are rentals -- generally subsidized housing for the "poor." And those homes look it too -- particularly the broken windows and doors.
With a shrunken tax base, the town is perpetually broke. Basic services are often absent. There is an alley behind my house where I put my garbage in collection day. It is riddled with holes so large you could lose a Buick in them. The alley desperately needs a complete repaving, but the town can only afford to patch it once a year. With our winter weather, the patches might last a week.
The town could have staved off decline with sound economic policies, but no. Instead, they gouge us few homeowners who are left and that money is dwindling as more and more owners flee. I should leave. When I bought my house, the town was still doing ok, but now if I sold, I wouldn't get the original purchase price I paid -- not to mention recoup what I put into improvements. It' s pathetic.
My town isn't quite as bad as Seattle, or most major Dem-run cities, but it's a reflection of those cities on a smaller scale. Any town dominated by Democrats is headed toward destruction. My advice to anyone who lives in a Democrat-ruled stronghold is to get out while you can.
