Oh good grief. I bet now they'll do a whole episode dedicated to mocking him and their ratings will skyrocket.

President Trump began his Sunday morning venting about 'Saturday Night Live'
He complained about the show's parody of him, charging them as 'an advertisement without consequences' to help Democrats
He suggested federal regulators should investigate
'Saturday Night's Live' brand of satire is considered protected speech under the first amendment
Trump has often been mocked by the show with Alec Baldwin portraying him as bumbling commander in chief
Hillary Clinton was mocked by the program during the 2016 election ...

Just maybe, if he spent less time worrying about SNL and focus like a laser beam, he wouuld have a wall being built right now.

Rather the president's point, is it not.   The show is a campaign ad for your side without equal time for ours.

It’s truly incredible that shows like Saturday Night Live, not funny/no talent, can spend all of their time knocking the same person (me), over & over, without so much of a mention of “the other side.” Like an advertisement without consequences. Same with Late Night Shows......

It isn't a campaign ad, it is a comedic parody. Do you really want the federal government deciding what speech it seems acceptable- especially those that parody the government?

Speech that parodies, mocks, and challenges the government is the exact tyoe of speech we should protect- even if we disagree with it.

This is one of those literally crossing the definition of fascism lines if he starts doing this and is no different than Obama sicking the IRS on political opponents.

That is exactly what they will do. Comedians of all kinds love when Trump attacks them. It's just straight up free publicity for them. Some comedians have even directly insult Trump and his entire family specifically trying to get Trump to respond to them.

"Is it better the Ruler be feared or loved?", Machiavelli asked.
The media and their flunkies, urinate on Trump hourly because
they have absolutely no fear of him; knowing him to be a
compulsive narcissist, craving attention and adoration.
As the family biographer related, his temperament has existed
since his early teen years and nothing will ever change.
Likely matters will end extremely poorly for him.

 :hands:

Futhermore, wasn't there something called the "fairness doctrine" talked about some years ago. Yes liberals didn't like the radio shows like Limbaugh's were so popular and "one-sided" and demanded something be done about it, that something being the government forcing free and equal airtime?

Remember that folks? Remember our side screaming 1st Amendment!!! and that the "fairness doctrine" was a giant step closer to fascism?

So now "we" (OK, some of you) are OK with it? Where is that graphic "It's not fascism when we do it"?

Political satire has a long tradition not only in our Republic but also in many others. It even goes back in the form of graffiti to ancient Rome where while some graffiti was just crude toilet humor, a lot of it was political (along with being crude).

I think Trump is just angry that SNL was a rerun last night and "very sad" there was no new sketch about him because he secretly loves the attention, I believe he is just that narcissistic.

And he should be spending less time watching TV and reading articles just to see what others are saying about him and I don't know, say do something crazy like read intelligence reports and by intelligence reports, I don't mean the National Enquirer.

Ok, what is your solution? Should the Feds tell SNL what they can and can't mock?

This old saying really applies here.

Trump was actually the host of SNL on April 2, 2004.  Sure didn't complain when the publicity was helping his businesses

....or hosting SNL on November 7,2015 when it helped his political campaign for the primaries.  Hyprocritic puke.

SNL has roasted every Republican President for nearly 44 years, and they've taken many shots at Clinton and his wife. That's what they do.

With Kelly gone, there's no one left to speak frankly to Trump.

I think it's almost like he knows he can't do anything about them, except draw attention to them.  that benefits him.

Trump would have accomplished a lot more of his campaign promises -- not just the wall -- if he hadn't piddled away the last 2 plus years on nonsense like this.  Instead he squandered a majority in both houses of congress, in addition to the presidency, and did nothing.  Now it's 2019, the House belongs to the Democrats, and his promises are in the toilet.  So he has to rage against someone or something -- SNL, a dead senator -- to deflect from his failure as president.

And how would that be enforced? For every five minutes Trump is mocked on SNL, they must spend an equal 5 minutes mocking a Democrat?

This is Trump entertaining his base

Here is an interesting flashback and possibly something that may shed a different light on this. Lorne Michaels is friends with Trump and actually told his cast to go easy on Trump during the primary.
https://pagesix.com/2018/10/11/taran-killam-says-lorne-michaels-told-snl-cast-to-go-easy-on-trump/

Lorne Michaels also donated to Trump the maximum allowed (and that's just an 'on the books' donation).
from r/LiveFromNewYork

https://www.reddit.com/r/LiveFromNewYork/comments/9np5nl/snl_boss_lorne_michaels_donated_5000_to/

We know from The Art of the Deal, that Trump loves any attention, even controversial attention. "It doesn't matter what they say, as long as they are talking about you..."

Maybe Lorne and Trump are purposefully playing off each other. Trump needs this mockery, both for his ego, but also to keep his base feeling like victims of a wider conspiracy.

SNL, on the other hand, has been getting record ratings, in no small part, to the Trump 'feud'.

This is another example of Dictator Trump thinking he owns everything in this country, including every show on TV and he would shut them all down except the ones who want to stay on TV and run adoration Trump shows every hour.  He. would. do. that.

Nope.  It's merely drawing attention to the fact that for ten years nobody has made fun of or mocked Barack Obama, or Hillary Clinton.

In fact, the Obama impersonator, Steve Bridges unexpectedly died of a heart attack.   Shortly thereafter, a rodeo clown sitting in a barrel wearing an Obama mask, retired.
