How Socialism Fails in Theory
By Auguste Meyrat

Even though Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's Green New Deal was a complete failure of a bill, not even making it to a vote in the House, liberals still hail it as a success.  True, it did not become law, but it had noble goals and could have succeeded if it weren't for America's self-interested economic system and selfish, unimaginative politicians.

And this is how socialism wins in the end.

Democratic socialists, like Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders, claim to believe in what socialism promises — equality, social benefits, a compassionate state — and not in what it actually does, like impoverish and enslave the nations that adopt it.  If anyone asks them how they plan to pay for these public goods, they never answer, but they claim the moral high ground, stating that they at least care about the poor and the environment and have started an important national conversation.

The label of "socialist" has long been the easiest way to virtue-signal — hence its popularity among college students.  Whereas in the past, people would flaunt their Christian charity, in today's secular culture, people flaunt their socialist politics — and the latter is much easier because it does not even require giving anything except repeating slogans like "health care for all!," "universal daycare!," or "down with the 1%!"

Adding the word "democrat" to "socialist" merely makes it into a nonsense term.

The message they are trying to get across is "socialism is OK if a majority of voters want it."  The Rats are deliberately ignoring why we have a Representative Republic and not a Democracy.

A majority of wolves agree about lunch, only the handful of sheep disagree.

Socialism fails because there is usually a tiny group of people making undemocratic decisions affecting many millions.  If the state-run socialist product is lousy, the people at the top don't care...you'll take what they offer and like it.
Free market capitalism succeeds because there is no small group of people at the top but a broad swath of entrepreneurs/business  people trying to please many millions of people in  a  mutually satisfying economic agreement. If the businesses don't make their customers happy, they go out of business.
I remember reading stories of foreigners (Michael Palin of Monty Python) being stunned by the amount and varieties of breakfast cereals in American  supermarkets. In his autobio Palin whined that surely Americans don't need that many varieties of cereal. That was almost fifty years ago.
Bernie Sanders recently stated we don't need so many different kinds of deodorant.
Who gives these pathetic stooges the right to tell businesses they don't have the right to sell their wares?
In a socialist society a small clique of power-hungry people runs your life.
In a free-market/capitalist society average people make choices without the High Muckety Mucks telling them what to do and giving them little choice in what they buy.

The French Enlightenment spawned revolutionary attitudes and behaviors;
among them Marxism/socialism. It rejected the structure of culture/society
then in place, directed principally by the Monarchy and the Catholic Church.
Contemporaneously, the industrial revolution emerged, ushering in materialism as a virtue.
Yet what was forgotten/ignored was that behind their veneer of bettering mankind;
lay the impulse to impose their will on Man; the very essence of socialism.
Unfortunately many wrongly assert that Capitalism is the antidote. It certainly is not!
From the Garden of Eden, Man was formed by the virtues of perseverance,
responsibility, self-discipline and work; each of which created an attitude/behavior
of individualism and voluntarism.
In contrast, socialism is collective and coercive in attitude and temperament.
We have lost our way by forgetting/ignoring that legacy and wisdom of our predecessors.
Whether we can find it again, remains to be seen.

In our day, speaking of a democrat socialist is like referring to wet water.

Socialism will always fail simply because it removes risk, or rather, the reason for risk, and thereby, risk.

Without risk, there cannot be profit.

the end.

For many people the definition of socialism is the government control of the means of production. Certainly, tyranny is more than just  economic oppression, but capitalism is the free association of individuals who agree to sell and purchase under their own terms.
So while freedom includes a lot more than just being able to purchase or sell things you choose to without gov. interference, it, capitalism,  is definitely a form of freedom.

Socialism infantilizes people. Free market capitalism makes them adults.

Socialism isn't just poverty of the government fisc, it's a poverty of the soul.

Socialism is an ancient, primitive form of society.  One where people are rewarded by a dictatorial leader based on their value to that society.  You get injured or are born with a disability, you lose.  As long as you are healthy and stay on the right side of the headman, you get to stay and benefit from the group.  Ask the wrong questions or challenge him, you're gone. Socialism is merely a modern facade slapped onto a culture appropriately left behind in the dustbins of history.

Certainly I don't reject your assertion yet I'm making a larger point.
The Enlightenment, w/the Industrial Revolution that came alongside it,
gave primacy to material betterment and crowded out spiritual well-being.
If you doubt this, reflect of the quality of the Art the world has produced
during the past 250 years versus that of the previous 2250.
At it's core, Capitalism is a material system and hardly an antidote to
Socialism, another and far more pernicious material system.
When we recover the values, heritage and legacy of the Ancients we will
have found our way back but not before.
