Trump says Michael Cohen hearing may have sabotaged North Korea summit
by Daniel Chaitin
 | March 03, 2019 10:29 PM

President Trump suggested Sunday that Democrats were partly to blame for his failure to secure a denuclearization agreement with North Korea last week.

In a tweet, Trump pointed to public hearing the House Oversight Committee held with his former lawyer Michael Cohen at the same time the president was meeting with Kim Jong Un in Vietnam.

"For the Democrats to interview in open hearings a convicted liar & fraudster, at the same time as the very important Nuclear Summit with North Korea, is perhaps a new low in American politics and may have contributed to the 'walk.' Never done when a president is overseas. Shame!" Trump said.

Lil'Kim, for two weeks before the summit, was mocking the US. You can't sabotage what was already going to fail. They had no intention of giving up anything. We moved a carrier group out of the area, stopped war games with South Korea, got South Korea to lift some sanctions, and even gave them talking points on Otto Warmbier's death.

In return, they shut down one already damaged testing facility (and opened up new ones in its place) and returned some war dead.

North Korea had no reason to give in to anything at this summit. They got more than they did with Madeline Albright and Bill Clinton.

Hard to say. It depends upon how seriously the rest of the word takes the American 'rat party. It can't help your country's prospects to come across as a weakened, embattled leader but since when did that ever concern the left.

The date of the public hearing was chosen to coincide with the President's meeting in Vietnam.

The talks were 12 hours ahead of the testimony. As they announced the day talks broke off, they couldn’t agree on the level of sanctions relief to a proportionate amount of program dismantling. So, now, we’re supposed to believe things were going swimmingly, until Michael said some mean things to ruin it? If that’s true, the NY street fighter is actually a bitchy little girl.
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.

That's a good point. We all saw everything happening at the same time due to our news cycle, but the talks already took place and broke down before word one was uttered at the hearings.

Maybe he should have mocked him with "little rocket man" gig.  I think that could have been working early on.
AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.
