CNN’s Don Lemon Panics That Fox News, Trump Will Pounce on Jussie Smollett Story

By Rusty | Featured Contributor | February 21, 2019 10:09AM

CNN’s Don Lemon is fretting that conservative-leaning media outlets and the President of the United States will pounce on news that the Jussie Smollett hate crime was likely a hoax.

The statement came in response to news that Smollett himself had been charged with felony disorderly conduct for allegedly filing a false police report.

From the onset of the story, readers of The Political Insider have been keenly aware of the oddities and discrepancies in Smollett’s story.

The only panic they're feeling at CNN is from the fear that most Americans will be able to draw the logical conclusion that the left is intent on creating a false narrative against Trump supporters.  Which is the truth.  And the truth is a scary and always inconvenient fear that leftists have.

Stupid title: Lemon did not "panic".

I heard Don Lemon last night as he talked about Smollett.  Saying Fox and Hannity and Trump would use the story against attacks on blacks/race/etc., was only a bit of what he said.  And, it is true, they will.  It should be obvious they will use it.  The article picks up a few sentences Lemon said, as though that was the main message.

He is a friend of Smollett, in that he knows him.  He got a message in the middle of the night about this happening, from a friend who is a friend of Smollett.
In the morning, Lemon called his friend, asking questions about this.  The friend said something like this, "Ask him yourself, he is here."

So, Lemon talked to Smollett.  Lemon had no way to know Smollett staged the attack, but some of the story seemed not right to him.  When Lemon was aware it was a hoax, he held Smollett responsible for doing this.  He said, as others have said, this false attack could affect other attacks; questioning whether this victim also staged the attack.  Lemon's emotions were there for all to see.  He was sad Smollett would do this.  He is NOT defending Smollett.

They should jump on it, vigorously, and intelligently (which leaves Trump out of the running, obviously).

Not only should they pounce on it, they should vigorously go after the liberal media for ignoring or minimizing attacks on non-minorities by minorities. That happens a lot more than white on minority attacks.
In short, conservatives should attack liberals for their incredible and shameless hypocrisy.

I bet he does,  I bet he does.
