Dem Rep: Why is Bernie allowed to run in our primary when he’s not even a Democrat?

AllahpunditPosted at 2:01 pm on February 21, 2019

It *is* strange that Bernie didn’t use the past two and a half years to declare victory in his struggle to push the Democratic Party towards socialism and re-register as a Democrat. Retaining his independence was useful as a way of signaling that he disagreed fundamentally with the party’s neoliberal establishment on matters like trade and health care. With the early 2020 contenders scrambling to pander to his 2016 base by embracing proposals like Medicare for all, he could have used re-registration to signal that the Democrats’ transformation into a truly progressive party is complete, or at least far enough along to have made socialists a constituency that can no longer be taken for granted.

But he never did get around to it. How come?

Because that's not true, and Bernie doesn't waiver on what he feels is good and right.

@mystery-ak

I haven't read the article, but I know why he could run as a Democrat even though he isn't one.

Any person who signs up to be a candidate, can run in any political party's primary.  Do the paper work, pay the filing fee, and you are on the ballot.

When my husband was the Republican Party Chairman of our county, the right hand man of the Democrat chairman, signed up to run against my husband.  Since husband was the chairman, this Democrat had to file his sign up papers with my husband.

This man wrote a piece about himself for the local newspaper, and he said his qualification for chairman was, he was on the cheer leading squad when in high school.  He was also on probation for sexual contact with an underage child, but he didn't mention that.

Of course he didn't win, but he could run as a Republican even though he was a hard case Democrat.

He should run as an independent, but of course he won't.

What Bernie feels is good and right is for him to have three homes and you to live in government housing. He'll determine your allowance, too.

I have mentioned this several times, but Bernie most likely will not be allowed to run as a Democrat. After 2016 they changed their rules to say that only avowed Democrats can run for their party. It was a move almost certainly directed at Bernie Sanders and any that would follow in his footsteps.

I'm pretty sure Bernie is the least wealthy person that has ever had a serious presidential run.

Well, of course you're wrong since you don't know history and didn't bother to research your statement.

Bernie has a very small amount of wealth considering he had a serious presidential run and is known all over the world.

And yet an avowed socialist(communist really) being wealthy while telling others that how to live or that others have too much money is OK? And before you jump the shark on my communist notation, when the Russians invaded Hungary and laughingly allowed them to vote for being governed as either socialism or communism the people chose socialism, the Russians then told the Hungarians that what they were getting was communism because it and socialism is the same thing, and who would know better?

Bernie is ideal for contemporary democrats, but he is just one of many.

He has 3 houses, his wife is a tax-financial crook. Bernie has never held a real job, so in  sense he fits right in with his followers; "unwilling to work"

He is a collectivist hypocrite at best.

So you’re personally familiar with the details of his personal wealth?

Not just Sanders' wealth:  Everybody else who's ever run for President's wealth too.  Who needs Open Sources when we have Dex?

ETA:  We should cut him a break for a leftist just trying to puff up his favorite candidate.

I've had this discussion before and have looked it up. Most known names in politics are worth a lot more money than Bernie who is in his mid 70s and has been a politician for decades. It's just not a good argument in my opinion.

I'd never make that argument in the first place, beyond pointing out the hypocrisy of a Socialist who owns three large houses.  Briefers don't care what money people have when running, that's class envy best left to liberals.  We're a lot more concerned with how much money politicians make when they're in office.

Bernie Sanders wants us to emulate the Scandinavian countries, which are capitalist. He's been saying that for decades. He doesn't want the government to swallow the private sector. He doesn't want to do a lot of the stuff conservatives imagine he wants to do.

You have spoken repeated and clearly about how swell Scandinavian countries are, so I believe we can correctly think of you as a Sanders clone.

The left is wrong about immigration and a handful of other really important things. I agree with a lot of what Bernie says, but other times I am in complete disagreement. I think he's a well intentioned person.

Almost all American Socialist so called 'leaders' are multimillionaires or mega-billionaires. Liberals hate with a violent hatred any Conservative with money. But at the same time, they support, revere, and practically worship any Liberal one-percenter with more money than God.

This condition is called 'cognitive dissonance' or oxymoronic behavior. That is, Liberals have the unique ability to hold two dichotomous and mutually exclusive ideas as both being equally true. This is why they are able to love Sanders, Moore, Streisand, and Cher, as Liberal icons even though they have all become uber-wealthy by being shrewd capitalist corporate drones. However, any Conservative thinker who has done the exact same thing as them, is the epitome of evil.

Nobody has ever accused a Liberal of being intelligent.
You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.

LOL!   Took one sip and spit out a gallon.
