The military is working with a defense contractor to develop tools that would allow soldiers to use their minds to control machines and other equipment.

According to Defense One, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is now in the process of putting together research teams to study the issue and begin working on it. The project falls under the category of artificial intelligence.

Called neural interfaces, the technology is already used for things like controlling prosthetics and translating a person's thoughts into typed text. DARPA is now examining how the technology can be used for military use through its Intelligent Neural Interfaces program.
