There are six other centers around the world — in London, Vancouver, Toronto, Lisbon, Dubai and Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

The center will be located on the corner of Allen Parkway and Montrose Boulevard. The Ismaili Center will also house a Jamatkhana, which is a “place for spiritual contemplation and prayers for the Ismailis.”

Ismaili Muslims are a part of a culturally diverse community residing in more than 25 countries. According to a news release, they “express their values through betterment of self and society, search for knowledge, embracing pluralism, building peace and working to build and improve communities.”

GrouchoTex:
Interesting choice for placement.
What is it, less than a mile north of the heart of the Montrose district?
That is the center of the Houston Gay community.
Another thing: That intersection of Allen Parkway and Montrose was on the news quite a bit during Harvey, as it was under water.

Why am I getting the sinister feeling... that the chosen location is not pure happenstance or accidental....?  I wonder if the Houston gay community has any idea how they just got shafted (pardon pun) by the liberals they've elected to office.  Nah.

It is not the "center" of the gay community it once was, like in the mid 1980s.

It is now well priced out of the range of many that used to live in the area.  The median home value in Neartown - Montrose is $511,300.
