"Er … suuuuure it is. The only way anyone could assert this with a straight face, let alone with the smug dismissal Ocasio-Cortez displays here, is to be entirely ignorant of the post-war history of Berlin, Germany, and the deep desire to flee the communist system in both...

The Berlin Wall’s “moral abomination” came from its intent to trap people inside a communist system when they wanted to flee — at which it largely succeeded for its 28-year lifespan. East Germany arrested more than 5,000 people attempting to cross over it into West Berlin and freedom, and they shot and killed at least 191 people in the attempt. Only 5,000 crossed over into freedom during its three-decade abomination. They didn’t care a whit if anyone wanted to enter East Berlin.

If nothing else, you’d think that a cheerleader for socialism would know to avoid references like this. Nothing proved economist F.A. Hayek more correct in his seminal work The Road to Serfdom than the Berlin Wall’s erection. Hayek wrote that socialism’s inherent economic contradictions made failure inevitable, and socialist systems would produce leaders of greater brutality in attempts to impose success, leading inevitably to totalitarianism."

"[H]e was not the accused standing in a dock and I was not a prosecutor, and that I had no right to bring up domestic matters of the Soviet Union. In fact, he said, a proposal then current in Washington D.C. to buld a fence along the Mexican border was as bad as anything the Soviets had ever done.
I replied that the fence was meant to stop illegal immigration by people who wanted to join our society because it offered democratic and economic opportunities--that was hardly the same thing as building the Berlin Wall, which imprisoned people in a social system they didn't want to be part of." That was Clinton's and Obama's Wall, for 8 years each.

Yes, but.... the problem is.... there are millions of equally ignorant morons out there taking it all in and preparing to vote upon her ignorant utterances.  You can thank the Pravda media and public school system (ie government).

Sadly, AOC is on the world stage, and does more damage to the reputation of this great nation every time she opens her pie hole.  She is proof positive that the education system in America is mediocre on a good day.

I used to think Boston University was a decent school, but if they are producing idiots like this, then I add one more school to my list of schools that have outlived their usefulness.  What is worse is this bimbo has a minor in economics.  Frankly, she was under qualified to be a bartender.

It's like, She is a real rocket scientist from, like the sounds of it.
In other parts of the video were she talked about "the Wall"
Quote
which surfaced late Monday, she talked about her life in Washington, DC, as a new member of Congress, calling it “super weird.”

“Here in DC it’s like, so weird. It’s like everybody is like, a spy. Like, it’s so bizarre,” she said.

“It’s like — you could go out to get a coffee and the person that’s, like, sitting at a table in the corner of the restaurant is like, you know, like,” she said, as she made typing motions.

“Then they go and, like, they text all of their friends that they saw so-and-so at this cafe and it’s like, triangulation,” she continued. “And it’s super weird.” She also bemoaned the fact that it’s harder to blend in in DC than in New York.

“New York is really interesting because there’s a lot of anonymity out in public,” she said.
“Here’s the truth. Life begins at conception. Government is too big. Our taxes are too high. And our car insurance is too expensive. President Trump is doing a great job. Facts matter more than feelings. The Second Amendment is self-explanatory. And as a doctor, I can assure you there are only two genders.”

She'd probably find this "barrier" offensive, too, considering how would befuddle her.

I'm beginning to wonder if all of this trotting out the loonies in the Rat party is an attempt to pave the way for a "Centrist Savior" to come to save the day.

There is speculation that Sherrod Brown is just that guy.

If the full-blown socialists ever take over here, you can be certain that they will eventually clamor to build fences and walls - and for the same reason that their Soviet/East German predecessors did.

He has extremely leftist views. There is not such thing as a centrist in the democom party. They prove it every day.

I am sure of it.

The Communists have always used their extremists to make their ordinarily extreme positions seem more "reasonable". The Lunatics propose, the "moderates" will meet you halfway to your rights, and if the Pubbies cave (when don't they?) you only lose half.   WINNING! **nononono*

If the pubs had to rely on their horsetrading ability, they'd be swapping throrughbreds for burros.

Makes you wonder as well.

I agree, Brown's as bad as the rest of them. But he's going to be portrayed as a reasonable, more centrist version of a Democrat, and the media will go along with it to help the party.
