Quote
Replenishing the world’s forests on a grand scale would suck enough carbon dioxide from the atmosphere to cancel out a decade of human emissions, according to an ambitious new study.

Scientists have established there is room for an additional 1.2 trillion trees to grow in parks, woods and abandoned land across the planet.

If such a goal were accomplished, ecologist Dr Thomas Crowther said it would outstrip every other method for tackling climate change – from building wind turbines to vegetarian diets.

Bullcrap.
Try more logging so the forests don't burn and release all their greenhouse gasses into the sky.
Morons.
If it wasn't for the Gaia worshiping idiots we wouldn't lose so much forest to fires, the actual fact is that here in America there are more trees than there were a hundred years ago and both loggers and paper producers replant the areas they log because it's in their own best interest long term. I think it's important that we plant as many trees as possible, not to remove carbon from the air but because in the continuing cooling of the Earth people will need wood more than they have in decades just to keep warm!

That's right. I wish folks would go back to knowing what they don't know, and keep their noses out of other people's business. most of these dingbats are urban folks who've never set foot in a forest and don't know the first dang thing about it.

Nothing wrong with planting additional trees where there’s space.

happens all the time, has been happening for decades and decades here in America, which is why we have more trees than a hundred years ago.

So what’s wrong with upping the planting?

I said that they will need to, to supply wood for keeping people warm during the period of global cooling we are in, just not for the reason Dexter and this author believe.

I'm happy with us all being on board with planting shitloads of trees.

Because it won't matter.  The "scientists" will decide it doesn't affect their models, and continue the plan of slapping the country in socialist irons?

Why would we want to cancel out any CO2?  Do we want to kill plants?

As private citizens, or as a government initiative?

I am happy with planting trees, but also harvesting the ones which have reached maturity, before they sicken and die. Nothing 'sequesters carbon' like taking that wood and using it to build with, make furniture, fine firearms stocks, musical instruments, even flooring and paneling, while another tree grows in the place of the mature one which was harvested.

Otherwise, we could just use that CO2 to maintain reservoir pressure and produce oil.

And cutting them down and using the wood for things like nice cozy fires to keep warm, which releases the carbon so we plant more trees.............and cut them down and so on and and on. Damn this is making a song run through my head!

Increase the temperature by 10 or 15 degrees, and you would be able to plant five times that number.
