Morning, Evening Nets Spend Over 101 Minutes on Smollett Claims Before They Fell Apart

Starting late Thursday night, reports began trickling out that Empire star Jussie Smollett’s harrowing story of being beaten, blasted with bleach, endured homophobic slurs, and taunted about being in “MAGA country” while a rope was tied around his neck was losing credibility. By Saturday, multiple outlets reported that, citing law enforcement sources, Smollett paid two men to stage the incident with him.

In the lead-up to this stunning conclusion, the flagship morning and evening broadcast network newscasts spent 101 minutes and 22 seconds helping to spin Smollett’s original claims from the first newscasts on the night of January 29 after the story broke through the February 14 evening newscasts (excluding teases).

The good news is the CBS affiliate in Chicago did some damn fine work reporting on this hoax.

Even DummyUnderground now accepts Smollett is a lying creep. I'll bet when the fake story first broke, many average libs on hearing the details inwardly groaned.
But Big Lib Media has a narrative to push, so they went ahead with the hoax. Think they'll learn their lesson? Guess again. I'll bet they can't wait to push another hoax in the near future.

...and for which they ought to be congratulated.  One wishes their associates in the news media were as diligent about investigating other, much greater hoaxes such as the Russian collusion "story", whose provenance involved far more powerful people.

OK, chief. Perhaps "congratulate" was too strong a word. What I meant was "encouraged" - as is we should encourage them to continue doing their job as journalists, instead of promoting an agenda by means of obfuscation and tendentious reporting.
