New York's Amazon-adjacent real estate not so prime anymore

Gee who would of thunk the pull out would hurt other people.

Realtors in the Long Island City neighborhood of Queens had been doing brisk business because of Amazon's plans to move to the area - plans that have now been scuttled.

The Amazon-fueled New York City real estate boom just went bust.

Realtors in the Long Island City neighborhood of Queens had been doing brisk business since Amazon announced plans to move its "HQ2" there in November — and were stunned when Amazon backed out of the deal on Thursday.

"The citizens of Long Island City are in mourning," said Eric Benaim, CEO of Modern Spaces Realty, a real estate firm focused on Queens. "It's a sad day for Queens and all of New York.

"You're taking away 25,000 people from employment," he added, referring to the number of people Amazon had been expected to hire.

With the obscene property prices New York City had to deal with already, a little pinprick in the bubble is actually a good thing.

Maybe the area where Amazon HQs was going to be built can be named "Little Venezuela"

She alone, has erected a huge problem for her community. There is a true story about two towns, the the eventual siting of South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa Calif, instead of adjacent Santa Ana Calif.

An old Swedish farmer named Henry Segerstrom, first approached Santa Ana, about his plan to put a center on his land. That city was unhelpful, leaving him, trying to make him pay too dearly for the "privilege," of developing in their city.

Next he approached Costa Mesa, into which the farm land extended. That city bent over backward, asking him how they could help.

Costa Mesa became and remains the cite of one of the worlds famous shopping centers.

The moral of that story was NOT learned by Santa Ana, repeating a similar scenario later over the siting of a professional sports arena, which eventually became the Anaheim Pond.

AOC ought to migrate her azz to Santa Ana Calif. where her ineffective methods fit right in.

Got an idea - since the land values have fallen so miserably, why doesn't the feds buy it and erect a detention facility for illegals there.

New Yorkers will allow them the right to vote and can keep NY idiots like AOC in power indefinitely
