@skeeter it passed 83-16 in the Senate.  Remember McConnell said he's sign any bill that avoided a shutdown and kept the President from declaring a national emergency.

Given the wide margin by which it passed in the Senate even if he vetoes it (which I think he should) that veto would get overridden and it would become law.

Personally...I think he should hold a press conference in the Rose Garden and burn the damn thing in front of the reporters and all the cameras tat are there.

I expect Trump will attempt the nat'l emergency route, but this vote in the senate just about finishes any hope I had that the GOP will ever redeem itself and actually begin representing their voters.

Enough votes were there to pass the bill, but it's not a given those would be the vote counts to override the Veto.

Unless you consider US investment in Burma or importing diamonds from Sierra Leone really big deals.

And that is exactly the excuse the democrats will use in 2021 when the next democrat president declares climate change a national emergency, following the new Trump precedent.
