House Democrats may try to haul in Ivanka Trump for Russia probe testimony

Democratic House members want to use their new majority status to seek testimony in the Russia investigation from presidential daughter Ivanka Trump.
She “may very well have relevant information†regarding President Trump’s involvement and dealings with the Kremlin, an unnamed Democratic lawmaker told Axios.
During a roundtable outlining Democrats' blueprint for the Russia probe, one legislator said Ivanka Trump might be only one of many new interview subjects — with focus heavily on money laundering through the Trump Organization and other entities.
"[W]e will ... sequence the interviews that we do with an eye towards knowing as much as we can before we bring in potential witnesses,†the lawmaker said.
The lawmaker also indicated that the House investigation could overlap with special counsel Robert Mueller’s ongoing Russia probe, but would also include original inquiries.
"[T]hey may be distinct but overlapping when it comes to, for example, funding the inauguration,†the member of Congress said. “There may have been efforts to illegally funnel Russian money as well as Gulf money.â€
The lawmaker added that money illegally funneled through Gulf countries — including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and others — to Trump’s inaugural committee is the “second-largest area of concern†for the House investigators, after Russia.
