White House won't rule out another shutdown
Tom Howell Jr. February 10, 2019

The White House said Sunday it cannot rule out another government shutdown as it gets mixed signals from Democrats and Republicans racing a Friday deadline to fund President Trump’s border-wall demands and keep federal operations humming.

White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney said proposed funding is all over the map and that Democrats’ are pushing to cap the number of detainee beds for people who cross into the U.S. illegally, causing talks to stall.

“The government shutdown is still on the table. We do not want it to come to that, but that option is still open to the president and will remain so,” White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney told Fox News Sunday.

Mr. Trump, whose demands for wall money led to a monthlong shutdown, said Democrats must shoulder blame if funding lapses again. He said they’re not offering anything near the $5.7-billion he says is needed for his barrier with Mexico, while raising unnecessary hurdles.

Congress can rule it out. All they need to do is keep passing veto proof CRs.

Precisely.  At any time, no need to wait until Friday.
Don't call it the "Federal Government," that's an insult to the Founders.  It's a "National Government."
I will NOT comply.

They don't have the balls.

Maybe, but they don’t want another month long shutdown. Before the last one, the admin had announced they had other ways of getting the wall money. Now, they’re saying, again, they can achieve it through executive action. It seems preposterous to have a shutdown over money that could be obtained by other methods. So, it wouldn’t surprise me if they called the poker hand.

The pre-Christmas CR went through the Senate unanimously. There are probably enough people in the House to reach the 290 vote threshold. All we’ve had for years are continuing CRs funding the government, anyway. The closest we’ve been to an actual budget for a long time was last year’s omnibus bill. That wasn’t well received.
