Case closed against Sen. Bob Menendez after committee finds that he paid back all gifts
Rodrigo Torrejon

Nearly a year after the Senate ethics committee "severely admonished" Sen. Bob Menendez for ethics violations that nearly derailed his political career, the committee has declared its case closed.

In a harshly worded letter last April, the committee told Menendez, D-N.J., that accepting gifts from his friend and donor Salomon Melgen and advocating for Melgen's personal and business interests with government officials had violated Senate rules. Those actions formed the basis of federal corruption charges against Menendez in a case that went to trial in 2017 but ended with a hung jury and the government deciding to drop its prosecution.

The ethics committee closed the matter after concluding that Menendez paid back all the outstanding gifts, according to a letter obtained by NorthJersey.com and the USA TODAY NETWORK New Jersey.

Yet another Democrat who 'got away with it', as always. Democrats are somehow immune to any kind of 'law' or ethics.
Somehow only Republicans get prosecuted and found guilty. Democrats always get a pass, unless the crime is so blatant and egregious that it simply cannot be covered up. And even that depends on who the Democrat is and what kind of 'status' they have.

Hillary, Wasserman-Schultz, Abedin, et al, got away with multiple obvious felonies while Republicans are being prosecuted for some tax return discrepancy from 15 years ago.
You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.
Rational fear and anger at vicious murderous Islamic terrorists is the same as irrational antisemitism, according to the Leftists.

This is why all Americans despise DC. They run under their own set of crooked laws.

https://babalublog.com/   Babalublog is a conservative Cuban-American blog but they tend to represent all Cubans who they see as doing their job.

They were the first ones who said,

Menendez didn't go along with Obama on the Cuba deal nor on the Iran deal. Who might that make enemies with?

So, I think he was Kavanaughed some iow, a victim of a smear campaign, I don't know if his trial was a national or state trial for the alleged charges against him; but even a trial did not find him guilty.  The jury was deadlocked on 3 out of 21 charges, ballpark figures. The other charges.... well, one would have to read the record, I know they did not find him guilty of anything.

The mistrial is a blow to the Justice Department, which has been investigating Menendez for nearly five years, and will be a sigh of relief to Democrats worried about possibly losing his Senate seat to Republicans.

Sounds federal.

He also voted not to go into Iraq in 2003; so was he right on that? That's up to each of us alone to decide.

We probably shouldn't jump to the conclusion that one is guilty either. Even if they are the other party.

If it was a federal trial, those prosecutors are known to be very good.
