Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez fires back at Trump for socialism jab during State of the Union
by Daniel Chaitin
 | February 06, 2019 12:14 AM

Freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., argued President Trump's rebuke of a new generation of Democrats and socialists during his second State of the Union address Tuesday evening was a no more than a desperate effort to lash out because he feels he is "losing on the issues."

During his 82-minute speech, Trump said "we are alarmed by new calls to adopt socialism in our country" and pledged that America will "never be a socialist country."

Asked to react during an interview on MSNBC, Ocasio-Cortez said it is liberal Democrats who have come up with ideas that are popular among Americans, pointing to talk of a 70 percent marginal tax rate and expanded government-financed healthcare.

She said Trump resorted to an "ad hominem attack" to distract from his struggles on certain issues, including securing funding for a U.S.-Mexico border wall. "I think he sees himself losing on the issues, he sees himself losing on the wall in the southern border, and he needs to grasp at an attack and this is his way of doing it," she said.

She had a real bad night.  Even Peggy Nooner at the slimes said so.

If you think that then pass it you stupid bitch. I will love seeing your party decimated in 2020.

I'll say. The selfies she took during the middle of the speech may have been ill advised.

She took selfies!?!   I wonder what would happen if no one reported on her every twit.

Don't you need ammunition to "fire back"?

Keep shuffling those words around AOC. Someday you might be able to fire back with something that actually hits the mark.

Ocasio-Cortez' petulant childish performance last night locked down her support base among the 18-26 year old college coffee shop denizen demographic.

Democrats made so many tactical mistakes at applause lines, many that were designed by Trump’s speech writers to highlight the differences between normal, regular Americans and Democrats.

Seeing AOC sitting on her hands against protecting infants born alive, America’s employment boom, better trade deals, important long overdue security upgrades at the border. Americans noticed that. It was not a good look for the democrats.

Did anyone see any footage of AOC, Omar, and Tlaib when Trump condemned anti-Semitism?

She is the gift that keeps on giving..... as every word she utters are pearls of stupidity.   She mentioned how Trump failed to mention fixing healthcare.   The thing is.... if the Democrats hadn't effed up healthcare in the first damned place, it wouldn't need to be "fixed" now.

Trump's comment re: "we are alarmed by new calls to adopt socialism in our country" was spot on.   The idiot left is just pissed because he threw a harsh spotlight on their goal of "fundamentally transforming" America into just another socialist cesspool/hellhole.

Oh, her performance is going to get much worse. If she react this way to a couple of sentences in the State of the Union speech, just wait until she starts meeting real opposition.
I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

We've already seen how she handles adversity (lolol... not being able to "find" Mitch).... by storming and stomping all over the DC corridors like a spoiled, mentally deficient brat.

No doubt she hasn't begun to act stupidly. Her supporters will settle for nothing less.

Here's Peggy's tweet:

And good natured with the white jackets, who I see some on twitter are calling the straight jackets. AOC had a rare bad night, looking not spirited, warm and original as usual but sullen, teenaged and at a loss. 2.

The responses on Twitter were all ad hominems about her age. No one could actually contradict what she said. Mollie Hemingway tweeted:

People are displacing their anger onto Peggy for this astute comment. Really they're just mad because the #MeanGirlCaucus came off poorly --- looking at each other for approval about whether they could cheer anything other than themselves -- and they know it.

Don't call it the "Federal Government," that's an insult to the Founders.  It's a "National Government."
I will NOT comply.
