Senate Democrats Try (Unsuccessfully) to Block President Trump From Emergency Declaration to Build Wall
Steven Ahle February 6, 2019

Sen Tom Udall has written a bill, cosponsored by other liberal Senators, to block President Trump from using a declaration of a border emergency to build a border wall with Mexico.

It is an effort that has no chance of succeeding. Let’s imagaine for a minute that they somehow manage to turn enough Republicans to pass it through both the House and the Senate. The bill would then go to President Trump, who would immediately veto it. They would then need 67% of the House and senate to override the veto.

That means they would need 20 Republican Senators and 55 Republican House members to join in the override. Good luck with that.
