Federal Prosecutors Subpoena Trump's Inaugural Committee

Federal prosecutors in New York issued a subpoena Monday seeking documents from Donald Trump's inaugural committee, furthering a federal inquiry into a fund that has faced mounting scrutiny into how it raised and spent its money.

Inaugural committee spokeswoman Kristin Celauro told The Associated Press that the committee had received the subpoena and was still reviewing it.

"It is our intention to cooperate with the inquiry," she said.

A second spokesman, Owen Blicksilver, declined to answer questions about which documents prosecutors requested. The U.S. Attorney's Office in Manhattan, which issued the subpoena, declined to comment.

Except, it’s neither. This is the Manhattan district, SDNY, conducting the investigation. Trump really effed up by firing Preet Baharara. His subsequent US Attorney appointment, Geoffrey Berman, has sat on the sidelines of investigations involving Trump, due to conflicts. Now, the deputy, Robert Khuzami, controls the investigation. His specialty is in complex financial crimes. See the Cohen conviction, as an example. The subpoena was just received, so the filing and investigation opening had to go through the acting AG Whitaker. He’s either signed off on it or recused himself. Based on his refusal to step away from the Mueller probe, it’s likely he approved it.

Maybe not him directly, but a lot of people surrounding him. Imagine the terrible luck Trump has, being surrounded by so many corrupt people, but ‘innocent,’ himself. It’s almost like he’s a Clinton.

(CNN) — Federal prosecutors in New York have requested interviews in recent weeks with executives at the Trump Organization, according to people familiar with the matter, signaling a growing potential threat to President Donald Trump and those in his orbit from criminal investigations by the Manhattan US Attorney's office.

Mueller hands off a nugget here or there to local prosecutors just to make sure the circus continues after he tires of fingerpainting with his own poop and wanders off into the sunset.
