I've watched a couple of news conferences in the last couple of days @Mesaclone and he has said nothing that indicates to me that he is willing to back down.  I'm not sure if it's ego or conviction but either way ...

And @libertybele is a perfect example of people who desperately want a wall and border security but do not support the one person who feels the same way and constantly nit pick him because:  he didn't do it sooner; he didn't wave a wand and do it' and blah, blah, blah.

A lot of Americans are funding the wall themselves. That handicapped military guy, has the rights for people to fund & build a wall in their state, on the border.  Many are donating...from other states as well.  WE THE PEOPLE WANT THE WALL.

TRUMP. the only MAN THAT UNDERSTANDS WE NEED THIS FOR OUR SAFETY.

Disease coming in, for a long time. Typhus in L.A., now.  Polio, TB, whooping cough, ebola, enterovirus, flu's, measles again. Not to mention bed bug epidemic and lice.

I've been waiting since 1986, when Reagan gave amnesty, it was with the provision that democrats fund the wall, build it.

DEMOCRATS RENEGED!  AGAIN.

War Hero, Triple-Amputee Veteran behind “Fund the Wall” GoFundMe Announces New Organization to Build U.S. Southern Border Wall

Published: Jan 11, 2019 2:18 p.m. ET

Team pledges to build portions of the wall, cut U.S. government costs in half

Heartened by the overwhelming support of fellow Americans who have donated over $20 million to the viral GoFundMe campaign

“We the People Will Fund the Wall,” war hero and triple-amputee veteran Brian Kolfage announced the launch of a 501(c)4 called “We Build the Wall, Inc.” which will fund the private construction of a wall along the United States’ Southern Border.

“We are grateful for the President’s steadfast commitment to border security, the single most important issue plaguing our country,” said Kolfage. "Rather than subsidizing the federal government, which has betrayed the American people by obstructing President Donald Trump’s agenda, ‘We Build the Wall’ is taking the President’s signature campaign promise into our own hands. I personally will not take a penny of compensation from these donations incurred in the furtherance of this mission.”

Kolfage launched “Fund the Wall” on December 17th, and so far, the campaign has raised over $20 million from more than 330,000 American patriots across the country.

“Better equipped than our own federal government, we have made significant progress in less than a month, having begun extensive due diligence and commenced feasibility studies,” Kolfage commented. “We are already taking action on identifying the most densely crossed areas of the border, soliciting affected landowners along the Southern border, and ascertaining the willingness of border landowners to provide no or low-cost easements on their property for wall construction.”

“We Build the Wall” has assembled a board of directors led by Kolfage and engaged an impressive team of advisors to provide critical guidance on the project’s legal, engineering, contracting, environmental, accounting, maintenance, and real estate issues and serve on the advisory board and or the construction, finance and or audit committees:

Kris Kobach — Secretary Kobach served as the Secretary of State of the State of Kansas from 2011-2019. A leader in the national effort to stop voter fraud, he drafted and pushed for the Kansas Secure and Fair Elections (SAFE) Act of 2011, which made Kansas the first state in the Union to combine photo ID requirements at the polls, equivalent ID requirements for mail-in ballots, and proof of citizenship at the time of registration.

John Daniel Moran, Jr. — Mr. Moran is an American businessman, entrepreneur and industrialist best known for his role as President & CEO of Moran Industries, Inc., a premier warehousing, logistics and transportation company based in Pennsylvania that was founded in 1975.

Erik Prince — Mr. Prince is an American businessman and Navy SEAL best known as the founder of the security firm Blackwater. He serves as Chairman of Frontier Resource Group, a private equity fund investing in natural resource opportunities in frontier markets.

Dr. Robert S. Spalding III, Brig Gen, USAF (Ret.) — General Spalding is an accomplished innovator in government and a national security policy strategist. He was the chief architect of the framework for national competition in the Trump Administration’s widely praised National Security Strategy (NSS), and the Senior Director for Strategy to the President.

“Angel Dad” Steve Ronnebeck — Mr. Ronnebeck lost his 21-year-old son Grant, who was brutally executed by a criminal illegal immigrant over for a pack of cigarettes while working at a convenience store in 2015. Steve has dedicated himself to protecting other families from suffering needless tragedies at the hands of people who have no business being here in the first place through his work with the Ronnebeck Foundation. He is frequently seen campaigning with President Trump.

“Angel Mom” Mary Ann Mendoza — Ms. Mendoza lost her son Brandon in 2014, after his police car was hit by an intoxicated driver who was in the U.S. illegally. She is one of several parents who have been meeting with President Trump about how to tighten restrictions on immigrants in the country illegally.

Sara Carter — Ms. Carter is an award-winning Fox News commentator who specializes in reporting on the border and opioid crisis.

Sheriff David Clarke — Sheriff Clarke is an American former law enforcement official who served as Sheriff of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. He is an outspoken activist and commentator on illegal immigration.

Congressman Tom Tancredo — Mr. Tancredo is a former United States Congressman who has been referred to as Congress' most vociferous critic of current immigration policy. He served in the Reagan Administration and ran for President of the United States in the 2008 election.

"When government fails in its most important duties — protecting its citizens and preserving the country's sovereignty — We the People have the right to do it ourselves," said Kris Kobach, who led the Presidential Commission on Election Integrity with Vice President Mike Pence and helped launch the Administration’s immigration reforms.

“Our team firmly believes that we can complete our segments of the wall for less than half of the government’s estimated costs on a per mile basis, and in a much shorter time frame,” said Erik Prince, an expert in security and logistics for some of the most challenging projects across the globe.

“With millions of citizens united behind our mission, we look forward to taking a hands-on role in securing our porous Southern Border and protecting Americans from the tragedy my family suffered due to our flawed immigration system,” said Mary Ann Mendoza, whose son was killed by an illegal alien in Arizona. “We have taken it upon ourselves to prevent the illegal entry of foreign invaders who suppress our workers’ wages, bring opioids that fall into our children’s hands, and commit violent crimes."

Given the organization’s new tax-exempt status, those who have contributed to the “Fund the Wall" campaign can opt-in such that these donations will be transferred to the “We Build the Wall” fund.

  • Dems-greatest existential threat to USA republic!
I think the president needs to change his strategy.  There will be no wall with this Congress.  Trump does not have a voting majority in either house.  Unless there is a major military attack on our southern border, Trump's hands are tied.

I think he needs to take the case to the American people and begin the campaign to target and remove from office everyone that opposes a wall.  Call it the Security for America Campaign.  If you are not for border security, which includes a wall, you should no longer represent the American people.  Democrat, Republican, or Independent, target them for removal.  Name them and call for Americans to vote for their opposition in the primaries and the general election.

Getting the necessary votes in Congress, something Trump has NEVER had available to him is the ONLY way we get border security that includes the wall.  Otherwise, if he declares an emergency, it ends in the courts, and they will diddle with it and ultimately toss it back to the legislative branch to resolve, which they will remain paralyzed, like they have for decades.  Even with that route, Trump will be out of office by the time that all flushes out.

In essence the people need to drain the swamp in their respective states. Yes, the problem of time remains.  Time to vote out those who don't want a fence and then finding someone who is qualified to fill their seat and then vote them in.  Then voting on a fence and actually starting to build it.

Trump had the votes available to him for 2 years.  He had the majority in both Houses.  If he was unable to capture votes from his own party that falls in the laps of the GOP leadership and he himself.

There are several ways that the wall could be or could have been built, yet he chooses or has chosen not to do so.

No, there is no way "he" could have gotten the wall built...the GOP congress had the opportunity, but could not muster sufficient votes. That is a legislative failure, not an executive one. He is currently striving to use political pressure to force funding through a hostile congress...and he is setting up the political conditions for using an emergency declaration. Had he used the "emergency" mode too soon, it would have been politically disastrous...perhaps leading to an even greater Dem landslide in 2018.

As for taking the case to the American people...brilliant suggestion...I wonder why no one has thought of this before. Or, more likely, he IS taking the case to the American people as much as he can. It amazes me that someone would suggest, as if it were some new concept, that which is already occurring to the full extent possible...and act as if it is an insightful strategy suggestion. The President's access to the "people" is limited and mitigated by the national media at all times...they filter and screen and distort in a deliberate and partisan fashion...so the President works to get around that but there are severe limits on how he can go about that.

The President has done more to fight for a wall than any President in our history...he has fought harder and more skillfully than anyone else in the GOP 2016 race could or would have. But the swamp is deep and thick and he is fighting up hill every day with too many morons from his own side chirping at him about "how he isn't doing it the way they think he should".

Just look at @jafo2010 's statement about the "people need to drain the swamp"...well...no shit. Problem is, way too many of the people don't want to drain the swamp. In fact, they want to grow the swamp and have it drown all opposition to the Social/Econo justice agenda. In effect, the problem IS the people...or at least...enough of the people to stymie such an obvious and simplistic solution. So "naming" them and calling for their removal is ridiculous...its already being done to the extent possible and the truth is these folks are getting elected by citizens who are NOT for a wall or even for improved Border Security. What you are suggesting is akin to saying that in order to win the game we have to score more points...that's not a solution its an obvious statement that does nothing to advance towards victory.

If you want someone to blame, blame the American people...heck...blame the NT/RINO's who won't support a wall OR the President (the usual suspects like Murkowski, Collins, Sasse, Gardner, Romney). But sure as F don't blame the President...he has fought for this thing from day one...like a caged tiger trying to get at a wounded gazelle.

Indeed Congress is a LOT to blame.  I've said it before, electing the same leadership and expecting a different result is absurd.  I have given Trump credit for some things, but again, I question his motivation for waiting to push for the wall till just before the new Congress was sworn in and certainly there have been other suggestions on how to get funding for the wall that he has failed to act upon or even tried to implement.  So, no, I won't give him a free pass on this issue.

"The President has done more to fight for a wall than any President in our history."  I tend to agree with that for the most part, however, IMHO he lost that fight when he waited till after the mid terms to truly make a push.  He lost that fight when he made a media circus out of inviting Pelosi and Chuckie to a televised meeting and then shutting down the government and getting absolutely nothing in return; and again offering DACA amnesty when that decision was already made by SCOTUS not to hear the case.

Here's the flip side.  No way are the DEMS going to give him funding for a 'wall'.  They know that will hand him an easy re-election in 2020.  They have though proclaimed offers of border security, just no wall.  So .... in 2020.. they will try to take credit for funding better border security ...meanwhile Trump won't be able to take credit for a 'wall'.  There will also be a push by the DEMS for permanent extension on DACA ... which Trump will fight ... and their rebuttal will be that he offered additional time on DACA but was not willing to make it permanent. Therefore he is racist.  The wall is racist, etc., etc.  Nancy and Chuckie will be playing this scenario to the hilt.

If Trump wants to keep his base he has to do everything he can Build the Wall and secure our southern border. This will be a losing issue for all that oppose Trump. Maybe he will get his wall maybe not, but he got to go "all in" on fighting for it.

The reported meeting came amid heightened concerns that the president would declare a national emergency and deploy the military to build the border wall if Congress could not agree to allocate the funds Trump has demanded.

So do it.  Let the chips fall where they may.
