LOL!

That was funny to read as I am sitting here sipping on some five star shine... We do that here.
And you haven't a clue what it means to be free.

They do that everywhere......as for being free, I have both the time and the money to do whatever I want....any questions?

Right. Just drop that check in the mail and buy that 20mm antitank rifle.

You used to be able to do that. Out here, there's room to shoot one, just for fun.

You don't know the freedom you've lost.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Precisely. you see, you only care about what you want to do and all else may be sacrificed so YOU can have the freedom YOU want, and the hell with anyone else.
It's a big country, we live in different worlds, and have different things in our pursuit of happiness.

But that rifle one could order with a check in the mail when I was young is now classified as a "destructive device" subject to NFA of '34 rules, background checks, CGA of '68 rules, and a host of other restrictions, fees, and taxes.

Those don't affect you because you don't want to have one, but that is how freedom is lost. It in't stolen at its heart, but nibbled away at along the edges, those freedoms taken which don't matter to most until there are no longer any options.
Frankly, it is the same with a simple bolt action rifle, except for the NFA of '34 rules.

You don't care to be free, but you are more than willing to have everyone else shoehorned into your concept of 'freedom' to do diddley-sh*t. Enjoy your chains, most people do.

Excuse me? Don’t try to project your own hypocritical misery onto others ..... you don’t give a shit about anyone’s freedom except your own to fire some useless gun. I mean it might actually start to make sense if you had tanks to shoot at, but even then it’s ridiculous at best.

Silly boy. A 20mm wouldn't scratch the paint on a modern tank.

But you see, you have already declared some thing I might want ridiculous.
Where would you say the cut off is? At .50 BMG? .416 Rigby? .30 caliber? .22? A slingshot?  :nono:

It isn't that I want that particular rifle, but you would limit what rifle I can have, from 2000 miles away, with no concept of the place I live in, the hazards I face. I might want it to trigger avalanches on my access road so I can plow the snow away without risking being buried.

There are many entertainments which hold absolutely no allure for me. Should we ban those?

That would dispense with entire classes of 'music', the portrayal of more than a few 'lifestyles', and a host of clubs.
I don't drink, What do I care if that's banned--by your metric, I wouldn't, it affects me not.
Same for the various and sundry recreational drugs, various painkillers, video games, chick flicks, vehicles with less than 8 inches ground clearance, three piece suits, italian loafers, and neckties.

Ban them all, by your metric, because that would not affect me. See how that works? I really see no use for most of those things. why would anyone want to wear a strip of cloth around their neck that can get caught in machinery or be used as a ligature in a dispute? Seems pretty stupid in my world.

But if we don't protect the freedom of others to exercise their rights, basic rights which really harm no one, then who will be there when you feel those walls of totalitarianism closing in? It isn't about what you want, freedom has a serious element of live and let live where people don't unnecessarily mess with people who aren't hurting anyone.

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Pastor Martin Niemöller

@BlueHammer

Well, that’s not for you to decide, any more than it’s up to me to choose which therapist you should consider for that pent-up anger.  When you go, ask him to explain projection.
I say this to Beto fans, Trump fans, all fans of politicians: it is un-American, ridiculous, and dangerous to be a fan of a politician. They aren't pop stars. Support them if you agree with their policies. Criticize them when they go wrong. They are servants, not celebrities. —— Matt Walsh

No, true as all get out.
The best things in life are truly free... cost nothing.

money is no salve for that.
time might be, but like I said, depends on what you do with it, or what you can do with it.

No... That is lawlessness.
And I doubt you can 'do whatever you want' in the over-regulated northeast anyway... Certainly nothing I would want to do can be done over there. Either it ain't there, or it's illegal.

Been there, done that, wouldn't go back for nothing... You can keep it.
