Moms Join Suit to Force EPA Chemical Ban
By Sonya Collins, Aaron Gould Sheinin

Jan. 24, 2019 -- Two mothers whose sons died after using the chemical solvent methylene chloride have sued the Environmental Protection Agency for failing to ban the chemical.

Wendy Hartley and Lauren Atkins are joined in the suit by the Vermont Public Interest Research Group and Washington, D.C.-based Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families. The suit was filed in U.S. District Court in Washington on Jan. 14.

Wendy Hartley tattooed a picture of her son Kevin's last heartbeats on her chest. Her locket holds his ashes.

In it, the plaintiffs say the EPA had committed to banning methylene chloride from products sold in the United States but has failed to follow through. Federal law allows the public to sue the agency to force it to act.

Well if 'moms' want it must be done.  Maybe they could
sue the schools for not teaching the boys to read instructions. (use in a well ventilated space)

So because their children misused or failed to follow recommended or required or mandated safety precautions and the use of respirators, they are suing................the manufacturer? Were they employed by a licensed contractor, the actual responsible party or did they blow off the rules because wearing a respirator, gloves a Tyvek suit are a pain man.

Our company had a contract to reseal the sewage tanks at Dana Point State Beach, CA. and not a one of would have dared blow off on safety equipment 15 feet down in volatile fumes. Sometimes when you break the rules you pay the ultimate price.

Typical, blame the manufacturer, the chemical and the government instead of accepting their sons made the choice to act foolishly.

Just FYI, Methylene Chloride is the carrier liquid for the CS the BATF/FBI pumped into the building at Mt. Carmel in Waco (Branch Davidian massacre) before they burned the place down.

Why, according to Janet Reno, it was safe.....

It is the main ingredient in some of the best carburetor cleaner out there, too (use in a well ventilated space, away from open flames and ignition sources, avoid breathing fumes).

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Methylene Chloride is the least toxic of the simple chlorohydrocarbons, otherwise known as Organochlorides.
