NextDecade gives first public glimpses of Galveston Bay LNG project

Houston liquefied natural gas company NextDecade has given the first public glimpses of its proposed Galveston Bay LNG export terminal and the supporting Galveston Bay Pipeline.

NextDecade began the prefiling process with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in October but recently held two open houses in the Houston area to field questions from the public.

A Jan. 16 event in Rosenberg drew dozens of curious landowners who wanted to see if the pipeline would be built on their properties. A Jan. 17 event in Texas City drew dozens of people curious about an LNG plant being built along the ship channel.

If approved by federal regulators, the proposed 97-mile pipeline would move 3 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day from the Katy natural gas hub in Waller County though the heart of Fort Bend County and just south of Brazos Bend State Park to a 550-acre site along the Texas City Ship Channel where a proposed liquefaction plant would produce up to 5.5 million metric tons of LNG per year....
