2018 Today's Toons Favorites (Results)
« on: January 20, 2019, 08:39:32 pm »
After starting with >13,000 possibilities, the 10th annual Best Of Today's Toons is over & all the votes have been tallied. Neither hanging nor pregnant chads were encountered & Diebold equipment was not used. First, a few stats. 8 of the 41 finalists received 1st-place votes. Those items receiving no points are not included in the results. There were 10 valid entries received & thanks to all of you who took the time to vote!! Wanted to publicly thank Chuck Aston for creating the virtual trophies (like

THIS
) which will be sent to the top 10 finishers.

Votes were cast, in order of preference, for between 1 & 10 of the finalists. Cartoonists/photoshoppers A.J. Branco(5), Pat Cross(4), Dixon Diaz(2), Chuck Aston(2) & Vulcan/South40(2) had multiple items in the finals. The method of scoring was as follows: A 1st-place vote received 10 pts., a 2nd-place vote earned 9 pts., ..., down to a 10th-place vote which got 1 pt. And now, the results:

#T34 (1 pt./0 1st-place votes):

Votes were counted "in order of preference" with first place being the earliest vote in sequence.

Results were posted with first place being the last posted (aka the opposite order).

And I'm called a stupid democrat for pointing out that "in order of preference" is ambiguous.

Guess you won't give up...like the MSM still defending the Buzzfeed bombshell or their Covington Catholic fiasco...

The ballots were asked for in order of preference for the final round in order to assign correct point values to each selection.

There was no statement made re the order in which the results would be posted. For effect, they were posted the same way they have been for the last 10 years.

For the record, I know you're much smarter than a Democrat since you're on this site ;-)

Thanks, Pookie!!

Unfortunately, I didn't have enough free time to sort through all the entries in the previous threads and make my own personal picks for the poll, but I've been looking forward to seeing the results.

Great job, and thanks again for all the effort you put into the daily threads.

Thanks for all the toons, and hard work it took to compile this page!

Thanks, Smokin Joe! I commented there to change the general link here to the toons link here (as they did with the other site mentioned)
