Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez compares refugees to baby Jesus
« on: December 26, 2018, 03:08:38 pm »

Even a holiday greeting from newly-elected Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sparked controversy when she compared refugees to the baby Jesus.

“Joy to the World! Merry Christmas everyone – here’s to a holiday filled with happiness, family, and love for all people. 🌎(Including refugee babies in mangers + their parents.),” the self-described Democratic Socialist wrote in a Christmas Day tweet referencing the myth of Jesus’s birth in a manger.

Critics harangued her for getting political on the holidays.

“Even on Christmas, you just can’t stay away from politics. I genuinely feel sad for you. Merry Christmas!” one user replied.

But “Jesus was incredibly political,” an Ocasio-Cortez defender tweeted.

“Are you saying that Jesus was a refugee you blithering idiot? Mary & Joseph we’re off registering for the census so they could be taxed. Gawd, you’re amazing,” replied former conservative talk-radio host Neil Boortz.

She can't shut up. And it's only going to get worse when she gets inaugurated in January and starts signing bills. :chairbang:

Ocasio-Cortez says Jesus was a 'refugee' in Christmas tweet

By Samuel Chamberlain | Fox News
    Published 13 hours ago

U.S. Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y. wished her Twitter followers a Merry Christmas Tuesday by referring to the newborn Jesus as a "refugee."

"Joy to the World!" Ocasio-Cortez wrote. "Merry Christmas everyone - here’s to a holiday filled with happiness, family, and love for all people. (Including refugee babies in mangers + their parents.)"

Mary and Joseph are not depicted as refugees in the Nativity story. According to the Gospel of Luke, Joseph brings the pregnant Mary to Bethlehem so that he may enroll in a census ordered by the Roman emperor Agustus. The couple are forced to take shelter in the stable where Jesus is born due to a lack of room at the inn.

Jesus and his parents returned home after the danger had passed.

While Jesus was an infant, Joseph was warned by God about the baby-killing government of Judea. He responded to God's message and took his family to Egypt. A few rich men had made generous private donations in honor of Baby Jesus so Joseph was able to get transportation and supplies for the journey and a safer lodging  They escaped from the baby-killing ruler of Rome's Judaean territory, and legally took residence in Rome's Egyptian province where the government had a policy of allowing babies to live.

When word came that the baby-killing governor of Judea had died, Mary and Joseph brought Jesus back to their home in Nazareth. There were no illegal border crossings at any time. Throughout their multi-year round trip the Holy Family obeyed the religious and secular laws. At no time were they wandering, homeless, begging lawbreakers.

The fact that Jesus grew up in his family's hometown, Nazareth,  further destroys the homeless and migrant Holy Family fable. Nazareth obviously was his home for about 25 years until he began his ministry at the age of 30. According to the most reliable source, the Holy Bible, his parents and Jesus went with their relatives and friends from Nazareth to Jerusalem every year to celebrate Passover.

Even when Jesus was a migrant in his adult life preaching the Gospel, he never deliberately took advantage of the people around him. "The Son of Man came to serve, not to be served." No welfare, food stamps, Medicaid, Section 8, public education, or any Judean/Roman equivalent. If he asked for help and did not receive it, he shook the dust off his feet and moved on.

Both countries were under Roman rule.  No illegal crossing of borders involved, nor were they refugees in the sense of the word used now.
"Old man can't is dead.  I helped bury him."  Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas quoting his grandfather.

Didn't want to start a new thread for this, but this is pure Alexandria. First, someone points out she's not exactly Jenny from the Bronx:

Right, but @Ocasio2018 didn’t grow up in a city. She grew up in a small, homogenous, affluent suburb, where she attended excellent schools before pretending she grew up in the Bronx.
Alexandria takes umbrage. How dare a male person talk about her!

In which a Republican literally tries to mansplaining *my own childhood* and life to me.
And in true mansplaining form, he’s doing it wrong with an great degree of confidence.
It begs the question: is the GOP really “sending us their best?” 🤔

Not exactly correcting anything he said, mind you. It's "mansplaining" if a male says anything about her that she doesn't like. Whereupon, Dilbert creator Scott Adams queries:
