Dershowitz: New Cohen Guilty Plea Another Example of Mueller Probe 'Creating' Crimes
Ex-Trump lawyer admits false statements to Congress.

As seen on America's Newsroom

Harvard Law Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz said Thursday that Michael Cohen's new guilty plea is another example of crimes being created as a result of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.

Cohen, President Donald Trump's former lawyer, made a second plea agreement with federal prosecutors in New York, reportedly admitting to lying to Congress in 2017 about a Trump real estate deal in Russia.

The appearance by Cohen in a downtown Manhattan courthouse was unexpected and is the first charge against Cohen related to the Mueller probe.

Horse manure.  Cohen lied to congress.  That's perjury.  Mueller did not create the crime.

I'm guessing Mueller and the feds have more on Cohen, but Cohen is pleading to the perjury count to avoid prosecution (and a potentially heavier punishment) for the other crimes.

There is nothing sinister here, despite what Trump and the rest of his allies would have us believe.

Thursday, Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz called into Fox News Channel to react to the breaking news of Donald Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, reaching a plea agreement with FBI special counsel Robert Mueller to plead guilty for lying to congressional committees as part of the investigation into Russian collusion in the 2016 election.

Dershowitz slammed the special counsel for having to “resort to false statement prosecutions,” arguing it shows Mueller “didn’t start with very much” to begin his investigation.

Dershowitz Rips Mueller for ‘False Statement Prosecutions’ — ‘They’re Crimes That Were Committed as the Result of His Appointment’
Breitbart, Nov 29, 2018

[...]

I think the weakness of Mueller’s substantive findings are suggested by the fact that he has to resort to false statement prosecutions, which really shows that he didn’t start with very much, and that the very fact that he’s conducting an investigation has created these crimes,” Dershowitz told Bill Hemmer.

“These are not crimes that had been committed prior to his appointment, they’re crimes that were committed as the result of his appointment, and that raises some questions about the role of special prosecutors in creating crimes, or creating opportunities for crimes to be committed.”

“In the end, I don’t think Mueller’s going to come up with very much, in terms of criminal conduct, that existed before he was appointed, and that’s pretty shocking,” added Dershowitz.

That’s utterly stupid.  The false testimony was before a Republican run Congressional hearing.  It had nothing to do with Mueller's appointment.  Plus, Gowdy was already on record as saying a Russian investigation would have happened anyway, due to other factors, such as Cambridge Analytica and the Trump Tower meeting.
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.

U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller is being tossed into the Brett Kavanaugh and Christine Ford alcohol drinking controversy, according to an upcoming book detailing and revealing Deep State and D.C. secrets.

Mueller reportedly has been spending parts of his work days drinking as well as his evenings, according to detailed accounts and reporting from the upcoming Deep State tell-all book ‘PAINE: How We Dismantled the FBI in Our Pajamas.’

Rumors of Mueller’s drinking have gone mainstream in recent months after employees at upscale D.C. watering holes notified Congressional personnel of the Special Counsel’s frequent trips to the bar, often during week days, insiders report.   ...More at True Pundit
