SpaceX is on pace to break its activity record this year with 20 total launches, two more than 2017.

But if you think this year was a big deal for billionaire Elon Musk’s rocket firm, 2019 will be huge — and Florida’s Space Coast will benefit from that added work.

Hawthorne, Calif.-based SpaceX rocket launches are significant achievements for the aerospace industry, since many of its spacecraft can be reused, helping cut down on costs. The company founder also attracts a lot of social media attention with his lofty goals and missions, such as successfully sending his cherry red Tesla Roadster into space, and his plans to build a 387-foot-tall rocket to transport humans to Mars.

That said, Musk’s activity is significant for the Space Coast since the company launches from Cape Canaveral more than anywhere else. And that helps the region secure a bigger slice of the $330 billion global space industry.
